How can Pepsi have "more cola taste" than Coca Cola?

Isn't Coca Cola the archetypical beverage with "cola taste"?

1. More syrup and more sugar per measure of water.

2. I rarely drink soda, maybe a couple of times a year.

(My kids say I've spoiled the experience for them because their only exposure was ginger ail when they had an upset stomach)

Anyways, I'd swear that Cocoa Cola now tastes like what I remember Pepsi tasting like, and vice versa.


BTW, I grew up on the West side of the pop/soda divide, but now that i live East of Rochester NY, it's soda.

it made me think of how, sometimes, an artist's caricature of a personality can come to look more like the personality than the person themselves.
