Ladies! speak to me of electic razors, good? bad? ok?
I'm really tired of spending a fortune on blades and summer's here! while my rural town isn't judgmental about hairy legs in shorts, still......

so should an electric razor be in my future?

TIA ladies! :yourock:

1. No --I think they suck, and I am a most unhairy person
I use the Mach3 from Gillette for a good, close leg, etc. shave.

2. I don't really care if I'm silky smooth (I'll use razors for 'date night')
I just don't want to look like a Yeti in my shorts at the grocery store :P

3. I think they leave patches
As I said, I'm not hairy, and my leg hair is lightish, but I hate the shave it gives.

it worked ok once I got used to it.

I was hoping they had improved lately and that someone had a recommendation

16. I like Mach3, too.

I've never had much luck with electric razors.

Anyhoo,I use them in the shower so non-electic
disposible blades work best for me.

Hopefully this helps.
;-)

4. I hate being trapped in the hairy legs are bad mind-set
but I too am a victim. Disposables really arent THAT expensive and its really only the first one or two that you have to throw away from that first de-furring. After that each is good for 3 or 4 (or even more if you are light) shaves

7. I prefer wet razors
so I prefer disposables. I haven't seen an electric one that is really OK to be used around a bathtub.

The electric razor was fine when my leg hair was so fine when I was 13, but not now. I'm not hirsute exactly, but I'm not totally denuded either. I think electrics still pull on the hair too much (read: it hurts. :hurts: ) rather than cut it.

I shave about every 3 or 4 days.

9. Reminds me -- lotions
A couple of years ago there was a fun thing on the lotion aisle in the drugstore.

There was a multitude of hair-inhibiting lotions. I've got one from Jergens. It was great! I only had to shave maybe 1x/week if I used it everyday.

Now, I don't see them at all. What's up with dat?

11. Wax on. Wax off.
Just wax a time or two and shaving with an electric doesn't seem quite so bad...

13. I vote for waxing
it hurts the first couple times but it lasts a lot longer than shaving and because the hair is pulled out by the root it really does come in finer.

15. it's possible to do it yourself, easier if you have someone to help you
It's gone out of fashion but do you remember ever hearing of Nads? It's a sugar based solution that is used instead of wax. Benefits are that you don't have to heat it and it rinses off much more easily than wax.

For the past 6 years or so I've been using this http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=80237&catid=50619&brand=21192&trx=PLST-0-BRAND&trxp1=50619&trxp2=80237&trxp3=1&trxp4=0&btrx=BUY-PLST-0-BRAND&cmbProdBrandFilter=21192
Have a glass of wine to relax before you use it, it's not as painful as you might think. Easy to use and I've noticed a huge decrease in the density of the hair on my legs. I still sometimes use a razor for date night :) but I can go a lot longer between shaves now.

17. Here's my fav depilatory
I've never been satisfied with using a razor in the binkini area, but I like this stuff a lot. It works, doesn't stick (so much), and doesn't sting. Plus you get this really great lanolin moisterizer with it.

18. I bought a Braun 360 for my sweety last Christmas and have no complaints
Edited on Thu Jun-07-07 02:31 PM by tandot
I looked at Consumer Reports and it was one of the best rated electric razors. It came with a cleaning module:

However, it was very expensive. The thing cost $160 and the double-pack of cleaning cartridge refills cost about $12 for two (they last him about 3-4 month).

OOOPS! Sorry. I should have read the OP better. I missed the "shaving legs" part  :blush::blush::blush::blush:

Maybe I'll try it (without letting him know, of course)

26. I have one of those that you can use in the shower...
and I like it. It's not quite as close as a blade, but it's not noticeable unless someone is stroking your leg... ;)

I was never much of a shaver, either my pits or legs but I do shave more with the new electric razor. It also has an "extension" thing on it that leaves the hair about 1/4 inch long so you can do a rough cut first--or only.

29. Can I share a "Nair" experience here?
Back when I was in college I got tired of the shaving the legs thing and I bought some of that Nair foam. I had just spread it on my legs and the phone rang. Being a college kid I had to run and answer the phone (this was back when cordless phones were rare and cell phones were not even on the radar.)

When I ran down the hall little splats of that foam fell off my legs.

I was only on the phone for a couple of minutes and then I went back to clean that foam off the carpet. In just a couple of minutes it had EATEN holes in the carpet!

I just can't imagine that anything that eats carpet should be used on skin--ya know?
