My motherboard fried the other day. |
|
It cost me $200.00 to have it replaced. Anyway, I had to nuke my hard drive and I lost my pirated copy of windows XP. So I am now back to using windows98...Gawd, I can't believe the difference. Crashes, blue screen of death, etc. I have to use 98 for a month until I get my next check so I can buy my own copy of XP.

On my laptop (RIP dear Compaq). I need a new one NOW. It isn't worth getting it fixed at this point.

3. Wow, $200 to replace a motherboard |
|
I'm sorry to tell you this dude, but you got burned. You can easily get a motherboard, even with a cpu too for way less than that.
Do you have a friend who has built his own machine? Lots of us do, it isn't so hard.
Man, I'm sorry. :(

4. My only friend that could build machines moved to Wyoming |

He built this one.I paid for convenience I guess. They came to my house and picked it up and delivered it again. Otherwise I would have had to take this huge tower on the bus. Then I would have had to get the thermal grease, you can't just by that anywhere and there are no computer stores close to my house. Then I would have to know what I am doing, and I don't do hardware.

5. Okay, shipping costs and everything |
|
I should take into account the relatively strong pound too. Still, I'm sorry. :(

I should know how to build computers. I have been using them since 1995. I am just not good with my hands. I am more of a software guy. :-)
