My dear friend's son was buried today...
There were at least 200 people there. I couldn't even get in the chapel, there were so many. I left after the burial, rather than attending the reception. There were just so many people; and all I could think was that they must be physically and emotionally exhausted. There'll be plenty of need for me to comfort them in the weeks to come anyway.

My friend and her husband are giving a party for their son's friends tomorrow night, because they're just the most wonderful people you could imagine.

Last night they had visitation for 4 hours, and there was a steady stream of people attending the whole time. Some of us made music while people paid their respects; and it seemed to help...They said it did, anyway.

How I wish I could fill the hole in their hearts. So many tears...

1. Oh, my. How awful. GoG.
I think I might have missed this story. Was this a child? Was it sudden?

So very sorry for your pain.

8. Thanks, LostinVA...
I was hugging people I'd never met in my life yesterday. So many of the boy's friends were there; and they were all so heartbroken.

5. He had just finished his freshman year
at VCU. He was killed in a horrible car wreck last Thursday, along with two friends.

You might have read about it, since they were all in your neck of the woods...

7. Where did the crash occur?
I've had internet trouble for the last week or so.

Again, GoG, I'm so very, very sorry.

9. It is a terrible thing to see someone go through! When my
brother died, I remember how strange my parents were and how emotionally and physically exhausting it was for them. Even after 10 years, it still can be that way. My thoughts are with your friend's family!

15. How old were you?
They have another son who's 14. It's such a difficult age anyway, and he's not inclined to lean on friends. I'm worried about him.

20. I wish I knew what could help their boy...
He told his mom that he had a dream in which his brother told him he was alright, and that he should let their parents know he was ok. My friend said his face looked totally at peace when he said that. Still, I can't help thinking he's going to sorely miss his brother.

Did you find any books, or something like that, that helped you through the darkest days?

21. My dreams actually helped me! I had dreams similar to what he
had! They honestly helped me! I continue to have those dreams to this day. My other brother and I really leaned on each other also. That helped. He has got to grieve though because if he doesn't grieve properly, it will come back to haunt him!

22. Unfortunately, he doesn't have
another sibling to lean on; and his family is not close by.

It's possible that he'll grieve after all the flurry of activity ceases...

I hope we never have to know what they're going through.
Two other kids were killed in the wreck; and my friends are getting together with their families. I'm hoping they can lean on each other, so they'll have someone who truly does understand...
