It's a great OP, but honestly, in my mind it's a lost cause on this forum. It's impossible to discuss rationally w/o the bomb-throwers from both sides turing it into a flame-war, and I'm just tired of them.

I've been a member of a few different forums in the past that have had great dialogs about the differences between the genders and the bridges we can build to help both, but I've given up seeing that here.

I learned alot from NSMA about this even though we didn't engage in the type of flame wars on this that are the norm here now; I really miss her and her views about this...

It always feels miserable to argue, and very selfish, because no male is being significantly oppressed by sexism that I can see. It therefore seems like a waste of time and a trifling issue, but I don't know--my brain must get snagged somehow by the thinking behind it.

17. To me it's not even that

It's a basic decency to each other as different genders, and how treating each other as the enemy of each other is at best, Fool's Gold. And at worst, it's as ultimately as pointless and destructive as war itself. It's a dead end.

I've been a member of social-political boards much more to the left than this one throughout my 15 years on the internet, and I've never seen it as unworkable as a dialog between genders than it is here. I can't explain why it is what it is here, and like I've said, I've given up trying.
