do you think we value pathologizing ourselves as a cultural trait? |
|
or is it a side effect of pharmaceutical company marketing schemes and the therapy movement?
it seems like way too many things are diseases or disorders lately.
i wonder if having one form of affliction or other is going to become necessary for proper identity formation in the future.

i had to undo years of therapy mindfucking to get to a point where i could view reality for what it is, rather than through the lens of victimization.
i have the teddy bear to prove it.

"self-improvement is masturbation"
and i think there can be meaningful self-improvement, but medicated compartmentalization of coming to terms with what mommy and daddy did to you is not the route to it.

He should start with 10 mcg of lithium or maybe 20 mg of fluoxetine. That's what worked for me...

14. Are you sure it's amateur? 'Cause I saw a commercial on TV where |

fluoxetine made everything in the person's life magically better...
I had to look up the tardive dyskinesia, but according to Wikipedia (:eyes:) a possible treatment is Ecstasy... :)

17. At the same time don't be too dismissive of other people's problems |
|
I agree that the drug companies are too aggressive targeting consumers but that doesn't invalidate the need for some of the medications they hawk. But it's really self-righteous to judge if you haven't walked in the shoes of a person with bipolar or diabetes or restless leg syndrome (yeah people love to laugh about that one but you wouldn't be laughing if your legs constantly twitched at night preventing you from achieving deep sleep and resulting in your being chronically tired)who is helped by medications such as these.
Mock my Prozac all you want but hate the maker don't hate the user. I'm convinced I would have committed suicide without it. I have enough relatives who suffered (and died) from severe chronic depression before these meds came along.
Aw fuck it, hate on the people who use them as well. I don't really care because I know I'm doing what I need to do.
