1. I've been using it for a few years now and I LOVE it. No more worrying about |
|
buying stamps (and having them nearby when I pay, which is usually on my lunch hour at work). No more wondering if Chicago mail (rated the worst in the country) is going to get the bill there in 2 days or 2 weeks. No more having to page through my handscrawled check register to find proof of payment when Chicago mail loses a check altogether. No more late bills because I didn't have the money in my account to pay it as soon as it arrived (my husband only gets paid once a month), then I forgot to pay it once the money was in the account. I simply set it up to go out on whatever day I choose and I'm done.
It's made bill-paying so much less stressful and painful. It's one of the best uses of the internets IMHO.

2. Thanks for reminding me. |
|
Normally I do all my bills online on the 11th of the month (it's on my Outlook calendar), but I thought I'd go ahead and do them now. I especially love how I can set the payment date for some to be after my next paycheck but still before the bill is actually due.

5. It surely does. I don't know how I managed without it. |

Actually, I didn't manage very well without it.

I've used it for a few years and have never had a problem.
I've probably saved quite a bit of money in stamps, too. $0.41 per bill adds up over time.

7. I don't understand the advantage to the bank being free |
|
The money sits in the checking account less time with electronic transfer. Is it simply a service to match the competition? Will the banks eventually 'coincidentally" begin charging a fee once most of us are hooked? Or is it less expensive for banks to move funds electronically vs check handling with associated clearance fees?
