My take on Paris Hilton, Scooter Libby and the advocating of pardons
As I've watched the media freak show that is the Paris Hilton Jail sentence saga and the Scooter Libby federal prison saga I've heard a lot of people advocate for pardons on these peoples behalf. As someone that is actively advocating and petitioning for a pardon on someone else's behalf I would like to say that in the cases of Paris and Scooter that it is complete and total bullshit. Paris is a grotesquely wealthy woman that could easily afford a taxi cab or personal driver to usher her around town as she's been partying and drinking but no she didn't so she go a DUI. It's not the end of the world though, lots of people I know have recieved DUI's and just followed the terms of their probation and sentence and moved on with their lives. Paris chose not to follow the terms of her probation and not only attend alchahol counselling but she was caught driving TWICE witha suspended license. Now I would have more sympathy for her if she was making ends meet on $19,000 a year and needed to drive to get to work/school but mo she's a billionaire heiress that wanted to just party all the time at the expense of others. Scooter Libby makes Paris Hilton look like a fucking saint in comparison with what he's done but as of right now at least two republican presidential canidates are openly advocating for his pardon, this makes my blood boil. Scooter Libby intentionally lied to federal authorities to try to cover up the outing of an undercover spy that TRIED TO PROTECT US FROM WMD PROLIFERATION. I don't need to rant anymore about Scooter and those advocating leniency or a pardon on his behalf and their ilk to know how much contempt we should feel for them.

About the woman that I'm advocating a pardon on her behalf, her name is Carmen Granata, she's in her early 20's, lives in Eastpointe, Michigan, works as a vetrinary technician and is a homeowner. One night after returning from a rock concert in Detroit she had her friends stay over at her house so they wouldn't fall asleep behind the wheel on the drive home. One of her frinds stepped out on the front porch at four in the morning to make a cell phone call and Carmen was given a citation for noise ordinance violation because she was the homeowner that the noise was originating from. When she showed up at her county courthouse she didn't want to raise a fuss, just pay her fine and move on with her life. The DA told that because this was her first offense and didn't have any prior convictions all she would recieve would be a "minimul fine" so she plead guilty. Little did she know was that the Noise Ordinance Violation carried a possiblility of 90 days in jail and little did she know that a neighbor that she was at odds at with was a close and personal friend of the judge.

When Carmen went into the courtroom she was railroaded into a 30 day jail sentence with two years of restrictive probation with any violation of or her probation she would be an automatic 60 days in jail. When the DA was confronted with what happened by her attorneys and asked to grant her bail and a new trial he did what all spineless DA's do and he balked. It wasn't until the media brought it to the public's attention that the judge had to back off on her sentence and let her out of jail early and ease up on some of the terms of her probation. But this miscarriage of justice is still on her record and so is the stigma of being a jail inmate is as well. The pardon system was set up to assist people, like Carmen, that were railroaded by corrupt legal officials, NOT PAMPERED BILLIONAIRE BRATS AND TREASONIUS GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS. That is all, thatnk you.
