My son's college graduation |
|
is today.
Chuck Hagel is the speaker.
Should I wear my "Proud to Be a Democrat" button, or my donkey pin on my lapel? Choices, choices.

I wore only the donkey. The donkey pin is HUGE and glittery. I got it at the Illinois Democratic Womens' convention.
Hagel was actually okay. My daughters and I, and my son's girlfriend, all had a hard time not laughing when he talked about ethics. Ethics from a current republican? Ethics from the guy who had all of his votes counted by ES&S when he was the chairman of the company, and tried to hide the fact that he was chairman?
Still, his speech was mostly okay, and not political. And I am very proud of my son.
We found out that the reason he was chosen as speaker is that the student body president from three years ago is now one of his top aides. The guy recommended Hagel as the commencement speaker. I wondered about the connection.
