The Luckiest Guy in NJ

BRIDGEWATER -- A crane slid down an embankment and crashed through the side of a house along one of the steep, winding roads in the Middlebrook section of the township Friday as the homeowner sat two feet away writing in his study room.

"I heard this noise of a motor and it was getting louder and louder -- and then crash," 75-year-old Joseph Bohan said. "The debris pushed me off my chair."

Bohan, who lives alone, said the bus-sized vehicle and unextended crane damaged three rooms and burst pipes in the kitchen that caused additional water damage in the basement --but it could have been even worse.

Michael Koch, a crew chief with the Green Knoll Rescue Squad, called Bohan the "luckiest guy in New Jersey."
