Kitten baby has a yucky tummy...
He was dewormed on Thursday, and was starting his new wet food yesterday (Wellness Kitten, which is very rich), and ate way more than usual yesterday. So, today we have diarrhea. Called the vet, who says it's most likely being caused by a combination of all three factors. Eating and drinking normally, not dehydrated, playing and napping, no vomiting. So we keep an eye on him, and if it gets worse, we call the vet back. Poor little guy...that, combined with his yucky ear medicine, makes him a bit disgruntled. :(

But, in other news, had my second wedding dress fitting today, and that went really well :)

5. My kittens always had diarrhea on wet food
We switched to Nutro Natural Choice Kitten dry food, and they were fine within a day or two. Hope your little sweetheart is feeling better soon.

7. He was fine on Meow Mix wet
but that's for Adults...Today we're only on dry, and we shall see what transpires. 2nd time was slightly less liquid than the first. I never though my life would revolve around the bathroom habits of a kitten! It was all I could think about at my fitting!

13. That will pass, all in the litter box (we hope)
BTW, is this a second fitting for your wedding dress? Or is it a fitting for a second wedding dress? I ask because I recently learned that some women are buying two wedding dresses, one for the ceremony, and a different one for the reception. I was very surprised at this new trend.

15. Second fitting
I can understand that though, wedding dresses are heavy! :o

He's very good about using the box, just not so good at not stepping in it with his back feet. I spend a lot of time wiping paws lately. :D

17. My cats ALWAYS got runny poops after they were wormed.
If you add in the higher water content of canned food after a diet of dry food (Not to mention just the radical food change from adult to kitten food) I'm not surprised your kitten is having some issues.

A lot of vets suggest that ANY diet change for a cat be a gradual one rather than abrupt one. Kitties in a feral state really are a not that different of an organism than the ones we live with in our houses. They might eat whatever they can catch, but it usually is still about the same mix of protein/other materials. When you switch a prepared food for your in-house cats, the amount of protein and water contained in it can be compete ly different. It can mess with those little tummies.

Kitten food is usually higher in both protein and fats--which would most certainly be suspect (to me anyhow) in causing a digestive upset. Did your vet suggest that you mix the kitten food with the adult food for a while? Maybe you would want to consider starting out with about a fourth of the new food and three fourths of the old food, wait a week or so and then go half & half, then a week later go to three parts new food and one part old stuff...

Just an idea, and some observations from somebody that has been around cats for a while....

20. He was on a different wet food, Meow Mix for adults,
which he was fine on. I was doing a gradual mix/switch, but I think he overdid it b/c he liked the new stuff so much, and today we're just doing dry, which he does fine on. But thank you for your suggestions, the Vet says he sees diarrhea after worming all the time.

26. Kitties really can act like little pigs sometimes too.
If the new stuff is higher fat and higher protein it probably does have better taste (in his opinion anyhow.) Cats might have the reputation of being picky eaters but I know durn few that are anorexic! (Bulimic, yes. Anorexic, no.)

Anyhow, hope your fur-baby is back in top form soon, and hope you two get hitched without any "hitches."

:hi:
