I didn't include the word 'tire' for you, that's why it didn't make any sense at first

i thought you were saying you got 5 miles away from home after riding two hours away from home :)

4. You ought to carry a ptach kit
The new patches are peel and stick. You can get a set of plastic levers to pry off the tire for like $2. Add a frame pump and you won't be walkin.

5. actually, i normally carry a spare tube, but had used it recently to repair a flat
and hadn't replaced it. one of things you swear you'll get to 'tomorrow'...

it's happened before, but it in cooler weather, and when i was in better shape.

I feel for ya, bud. I've always been fairly lucky in that dept, knock on wood...

Hey, get this: These days, I'm training on my road bike for the CA Death Ride which is in 5 wks from today.
129 miles, 5 mtn passes, 16,000 ft of climbing! :scared:
Check it out: http://www.deathride.com/

I'm going on a training ride tomorrow. 100 miles, with 10,000 ft of climbing. I've never done over 8500 ft of climbing in a day, so this should be interesting...

:hi:
