post a song that describes your mood, or the kind of day you had
I had one of those days that was strangely blissful. I worked all evening and every time I would step outside I would have that sense of how you feel when you are really young and connected with nature and feel really peaceful inside. It was actually hot today and rather humid but there was a nice breeze blowing and everything went well on my jobs and all in all it was one of those perfect days, and this song kept coming to mind

Smashing Pumpkins - Today
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6J28OdEKrI

Smashing Pumpkins - Today Lyrics

Today is the greatest
Day I've ever known
Can't live for tomorrow,
Tomorrow's much too long
I'll burn my eyes out
Before I get out

I wanted more
Than life could ever grant me
Bored by the chore
Of saving face

Today is the greatest
Day I've ever known
Can't wait for tomorrow
I might not have that long
I'll tear my heart out
Before I get out

Pink ribbon scars
That never forget
I tried so hard
To cleanse these regrets
My angel wings
Were bruised and restrained
My belly stings

Today is
Today is
Today is
The greatest day

I want to turn you on
I want to turn you on
I want to turn you on
I want to turn you

Today is the greatest
Today is the greatest day
Today is the greatest day
That I have ever really known

1. Elliott Smith -- Everything Means Nothing To Me
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jmOEwQ2lyo

someone found the future as a statue in a fountain at
attention looking backward in a pool of water wishes with
a blue songbird on his shoulder who keeps singing over everything
everything means nothing to me
everything means nothing to me
everything means nothing to me

i picked up the song and found my picture in the paper the
reflection in the water showed an iron man still trying to
salute people from a time when he was everything he's supposed to be
everything means nothing to me
everything means nothing to me
everything means nothing to me
everything means nothing to me

7. With Or Without You - U2
Edited on Sat Jun-09-07 09:49 PM by oktoberain
See the stone set in your eyes
See the thorn twist in your side
I wait for you

Sleight of hand and twist of fate
On a bed of nails she makes me wait
And I wait without you

With or without you
With or without you

Through the storm we reach the shore
You give it all but I want more
And I'm waiting for you

With or without you
With or without you
I can't live
With or without you

And you give yourself away
And you give yourself away
And you give
And you give
And you give yourself away

My hands are tied
My body bruised, you got me with
Nothing to win and
Nothing left to lose

And you give yourself away
And you give yourself away
And you give
And you give
And you give yourself away

With or without you
With or without you
I can't live
With or without you

With or without you...

*sigh* :(

8. Soak Up the Sun ~ Sheryl Crow
I spent the day at the beach with a friend. We drove out to Malibu with the iPod on and the sunroof and windows open, then we went for a walk, sat on the beach for a while, then got totally soaked by the high tide. Overall, a total win. B-)

My friend the communist
Holds meetings in his RV
I can't afford his gas
So I'm stuck here watching TV
I don't have digital
I don't have diddly squat
It's not having what you want
It's wanting what you've got

CHORUS:
I'm gonna soak up the sun
Gonna tell everyone
To lighten up (I'm gonna tell 'em that)
I've got no one to blame
For every time I feel lame
I'm looking up o I'm gonna soak up the sun
I'm gonna soak up the sun
I've got a crummy job
It don't pay near enough
To buy the things it takes
To win me some of your love
Every time I turn around
I'm looking up, you're looking down
Maybe something's wrong with you
That makes you act the way you do
Maybe i am crazy too

CHORUS

I'm gonna soak up the sun
While it's still free
I'm gonna soak up the sun
Before it goes out on me
Don't have no master suite
I'm still the king of me
You have a fancy ride, but baby
I'm the one who has the key
Every time I turn around
I'm looking up, you're looking down
Maybe something's wrong with you
That makes you act the way you do
Maybe I am crazy too

CHORUS

I'm gonna soak up the sun
Got my 45 on
So I can rock on.

10. Green Day - Longview
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4MDa8peb18

Sit around and watch the tube but, nothings on
Change the channels for an hour of two
Twiddle my thumbs just for a bit
Im sick of all the same old shit
In a house with unlocked doors
And Im fucking lazy

Bite my lip and close my eyes
Take me away to paradise
Im so damn bored Im going blind !!!
And I smell like shit

Peel me off this velcro seat and get me moving
I sure as hell cant do it by myself
Im feeling like a dog in heat
Barred indoors from the summer street
I locked the door to my own cell
And I lost the key

Sit around and watch the phone, but no ones calling
Call me pathetic, call me what you will
My mother says to get a job
But she dont like the one shes got
When masturbations lost its fun
Youre fucking breaking

Bite my lip and close my eyes
Take me away to paradise
Im so damn bored
Im going blind
And loneliness has to suffice
Bite my lip and close my eyes
Slipping away to paradise
Some say, quit or Ill go blind.
But its just a myth

20. I'm just exhausted
Been running around non-stop for weeks between work and Dropkids activities, nothing to do this weekend, and I am just going to sit and be lazy as all hell. I'll be on vacation for the first week in July, I'm rapidly approaching burnout stage at this point, it is sorely needed. 1 more year and I'll have enough vacation time yearly to take 2 week long vacations a year and still have days to play with during the rest of the year.

18. I'm glad you had such a nice day.
I love that blissful feeling.

I feel it most at night during or right after a rain storm. What can I say? I'm a moonchild and a water sign. :)

I've resumed feeding the birds in the last few days. They don't like it much if there isn't enough food out there and they start screeching at me to fix that. It's cute. So here's my song for today.

22. Always my mood.
Why are there so many songs about rainbows
and what's on the other side?
Rainbows are visions, but only illusions,
and rainbows have nothing to hide.
So we've been told and some choose to believe it.
I know they're wrong, wait and see.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection.
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

Who said that every wish would be heard
and answered when wished on the morning star?
Somebody thought of that and someone believed it.
Look what it's done so far.
What's so amazing that keeps us star gazing
and what do we think we might see?
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection.
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

All of us under its spell. We know that it's probably magic.

Have you been half asleep and have you heard voices?
I've heard them calling my name.
Is this the sweet sound that called the young sailors.
The voice might be one and the same.
I've heard it too many times to ignore it.
It's something that I'm supposed to be.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection.
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

26. You Can't Aways Get What You Want
Dinner was a disaster. My wife and daughter decided to have a fish buffet and cook up some fish with six different methods accompanied by some fried rice.

Sounds good until you realize the fish they decided to surprise us with was bullhead. A bullhead buffet baked six different ways is not very appealing in any sense.

The fried rice was the third iteration of a tater tot hotdish gone horribly wrong. After all the ingredients were initially put together they realized they had no soups or tater tots or hamburger. So the next night the anti-tater hot dish made a reappearance as soup with ground turkey, but they both got distracted yesterday and all of the moisture boiled out of the soup before anyone noticed it. That dinner was deemed inedible because it was reduced to a pot full of ground turkey and vegetable mush. Tonight that was fried up with left over rice and might have been passable if they had not introduced mashed brocolli to the concoction (they forgot about the brocolli on the stovetop and it had been boiled down to green mush they didn't want to waste).

Normally we eat very well. My wife is an unbelievably good cook and I'm not too shabby myself. But the last three nights have been a culinary disaster.

But if you try sometimes you just might find you get what you need. Our dinner turned out to be four breadsticks each.

'Searching' - INXS
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdL3NMjsdfI

I am searching
I am not alone
I am searching
Please, give me some

Have we lost direction
Washed our hands of blood
I'm in need of sensation
Is there more to this love

Saw a mother screaming
She had lost control
Of what she once believed in
And she was not alone

If you could face the pain
And I could do the same
It would be clear tomorrow
But will it start, but will it start again

I am searching
I am not alone
I am searching
Please, give me some

Saw a mother screaming
She had lost control
Of what she once believed in
And she was not alone

Have we lost direction
Washed our hands of blood
I'm in need of sensation
Is there more to this love

If you could face the pain
And I could do the same
It would be clear tomorrow
But will it start, but will it start again

34. It's one of my favorites!
It's from their last album with Michael; Elegantly Wasted.

I think it's one of their best albums (I have them all hehe), but it was so underrated. Every song on it is great. Michael was amazing. I've heard the guys talk about that performance, and they were all so impressed with Michael. Because at that point in his life he was dealing with so much shit, and even before he went on stage there was some drama, but then he just went out there and delivered.

I'm sorry, I'm being an obsessive fan girl. :P

36. Beatles - I'm Only Sleeping
When I wake up early in the morning

Lift my head, I'm still yawning
When I'm in the middle of a dream
Stay in bed, float up stream (float up stream)

Please, don't wake me, no, don't shake me
Leave me where I am - I'm only sleeping

Everybody seems to think I'm lazy
I don't mind, I think they're crazy
Running everywhere at such a speed
Till they find there's no need (there's no need)

Please, don't spoil my day, I'm miles away
And after all I'm only sleeping

Keeping an eye on the world going by my window
Taking my time

Lying there and staring at the ceiling
Waiting for a sleepy feeling...

Please, don't spoil my day, I'm miles away
And after all I'm only sleeping

Keeping an eye on the world going by my window
Taking my time

When I wake up early in the morning
Lift my head, I'm still yawning
When I'm in the middle of a dream
Stay in bed, float up stream (float up stream)

Please, don't wake me, no, don't shake me
