Series! We had the feeder out for a month, and almost nothing. Cat shows up, and now we have a family of sparrows (4 little ones and Mom), and 2 Blue Jays, every day for the past 3 days! :wtf:

Luckily, Kittie doesn't know what they are yet, other than moving objects that he likes to watch. :)

1. That's funny.
The birds torment my cat all the time. The other day, Sebastian crawled between the screen door and the sliding glass door because he thought he could get to the birds better that way. Not like he would know what to do with one if he caught it. He's a real pussy...cat. :eyes:

I only started feeding the birds again a few days ago. I think Sebastian forgot what they were during the long winter. Since he tried to sandwich himself between the two doors, he just looks at them from behind the curtains. I can't wait until the squirrels and chipmunks start showing up again. That makes him really aggravated. They look like live-action mousie toys, ya know.

:hi:

2. Exactly!
Baby watches them through the screen door like he watches TV...I can't wait till the Blue Jays get a whiff of him! He's a master toy killer, but birds are totally out of his element!

ps- He's feeling much better now, diarrhea gone, and sleeping soundly :)

3. Watch the jays
They'll tear him up! My cat growing up made a yearly habit of eating the babies out of the jay nest in the front yard, and he was subject to blitzkrieg-like attacks for the remainder of the summer. Dumb-ass cat and dumb-ass birds never learned!

5. My boy isn't allowed outside!
And he's only allowed to be at the screen door when we're right there, otherwise the glass door is shut. We're on the 5th floor so...But having grown up in the country with cats and Jays, I know exactly what you're saying :)

10. Normally our cats were indoor cats
But Shadow claimed us as a half-grown kitten and was a true hunter at heart.

I've seen jays take down owls and hawks. NOT a bird I'd mess with, they are TOUGH little buggers! Just wait til the jays realize baby is there in the window, I love that "CAT! ATTACK!!!" call they make.

4. Kitties are so much fun.
Not only are they loving and cuddly, but they are entertaining as hell!

I'm so glad your baby is feeling better. :)

7. Me too!
I was on pins and needles all day, since diarrhea in a kitten can go from not a big deal to fatal relatively quickly. He stayed hydrated and fed all day, slept a bunch, and seems to be back to normal! Not sure if it was the de-worming or the food change or what, I'm just going to give it a few days and go from there. He's got me wrapped around his little paws, he does...and I love it. :D

9. When we get a house
I'm getting one of these for the cat. I think he would looooove it. :)

"The ultimate in kitty pleasure is having a Kittyview, a crystal-clear, safe, strong and secure environment, bringing the outdoors indoors. Air vents and the panoramic view allow your cat to enjoy the sights, sounds and smells from outside. It's an Outdoor Cat Enclosure or a Cat Window Perch."

6. I once read a book written from a cat's point of view.
Apparently, cats looks out the window to "read the latest neighborhood news." Watching birds out the window is akin to people watching dramas as well. The name of the book was, The Fur Person, written by May Sarton. Great read if you ever get your hands on a copy. :hi:

11. Somewhat similar... This guy put a camera on his cat.
This link made the rounds a few days ago.. I would be shocked if someone didn't post it here before.

It is pretty cool..

I was kinda shocked to see how much cats in the wild hang out together.

13. We open our front door so the cats can watch the porch; we refer to it as "Kitty TV".
We don't even have an actual bird feeder. Several bird species
like to steal the Cat Chow we put out. Sometimes, a blue jay will
start a fight with other birds around the food dish- that's the cats'
favorite program, by far!

Oh, and when the weather is nice, we slide the window up so the
air blows through the screen, at which point the "Kitty TV" is
transformed into the kitty-ecstacy-inducing "Smell-O-Vision".

15. Our cats mostly ignore the birds at the porch feeder,
except for my Emily. All winter, the quiet of the afternoon was broken by the "boinking" sound of a cat hitting the sliding glass door. (She just doesn't get that just because you can see through the glass, that doesn't mean that the barrier doesn't exist.) Now we get to hear the sound of "spronging" against the screen. And she just doesn't learn.

16. I find that the mother birds show up and scold my cat when he is outside.
Maybe that is what is going on. They sit on a wire and yell obsenities at the poor pusy. He's done nothing to them. Then they divebomb my deck and leave bird **** all over the place. I'm sure if I didn't have a cat they would have left me, my cat and my back yard alone.
