PICTURES - The beauty of transformation
I just completed the remodeling of my deck. For those of you who are captivated by the simple beauty of the transformation of things, so I have posted two pictures of the project. Since I have some rather substantial health problems, I am only able to work on projects like this about 2 hours per day, so this took me soooooooo long to do LOL. However, I am proud of the finished result. The new deck is made of recycled composite material.

Here's the job about 30% completed:

Here's the job 100% complete:

2. It's beautiful.
Great job--and I love, love, love the gravel/brick treatment below it. You'll never have to worry about giant weeds making your good job look terrible.

6. Thank you zanne...
Yes, the weeds have been a dilemma for many years LOL.

I finally decided to lay down some heavy duty landscaping cloth and put the gravel in. Hopefully, that will do the trick.

Have a great day!

36. Pressure treated lumber has formaldehyde in it?
PT plywood yeah, but PT dimensional stock doesn't.

What I like best about this very pretty deck: Philboy used the composite edging around the frame system. Most guys just put the deck boards down and call it good; Philboy trimmed out the edge of the deck system. It's prettier that way.

Let me guess: Trex decking with Veranda handrails.

39. I think you are correct about...
the formaldehyde not being in the dimensional stock. Also, I believe there has been a change in recent years in the chemicals used for PT? In anycase...I still dislike working with pressure treated LOL.

Your guess about Trex and Veranda is very close, and as a matter of fact, I almost went with these two products until the very last minute...I ended up going with a Timbertech brand deck and railing.

Thank you jmowreader, and have a pleasant day. :hi:

42. Thanks very much, and if you...
would like to do one yourself, they are not all that hard, especially if you have an existing frame that is in good shape.

It was time consuming, but I am a perfectionist to a fault, and would probably take a "normal" person less than half the time that it took me :D

If you want to build one and have any questions, let me know. :hi:

as I do with everyone I respond to, i checked your profile, and noticed you are from Oxford, ME. Is that where the Oxford speedway is? If so, I think you live in a beautiful part of the world. I went to two concerts there during the summer of 1988...
