Summer = Making ice cream from scratch at home. |

Tonight I'm making Vanilla-Cardamom ice cream, from a real vanilla bean and using cardamom I just ground. I'll let you know how much it rocks later.

Will the recipe be included in your update? :D I made some mint chocolate chip last year with mint growing outside my window. I used the ice cream portion of this pie recipe http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,1977,FOOD_9936_16315,00.htmlGood stuff!

This rocks! It is soooo yummy!
2 cups cream, 2 cups milk, 1/8 teaspoon salt, 3/4 cup natural unprocessed sugar, 1 vanilla bean, 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom, 7 egg yolks.
Mix egg yolks and sugar and salt. Set aside. Simmer milk+cream+ vanilla bean split lengthwise + cardamom until starting to simmer. Strain and then fold into egg mixture. Now bring new mixture back to sauce pan and cook until it sticks to the spoon. Never boil at any point. Cool mixture off in fridge.
Then you need to mix it up in an ice cream mixer (or a large bowl in a bigger ice filled bowl can work, but it's much harder!)
Freeze and enjoy!

My mom loves cardamom and her birthday is in August, maybe I'll make her some.
