Tonight's Sopranos finale... SPOILERS...
David Chase has given the whole country blue balls. :grr:

Building up to the finale and leaving us hanging. That sucks.

1. My theory is - Tony was killed by that guy at the bar
What we saw was Tony's last minute. Although I could be completely wrong.

3. My son thought that Tony was killed and that's why it went black. The guy at the bar
wasn't the only possible one. There was the guy with the cap too.

4. I believe David Chase is leaving it up to us each to decide what happens next.

And life goes on and on and on and on...

On the plus side, at least it wasn't all a dream sequence.

5. Had to be the worst ending to a series I've ever seen because I expected so much more. It was like
expecting a gourmet Italizn meal, and having Chef Boyardi ravioli.

6. And the Chef Boyardi was the political subplot. Seriously, the writer was allowing you to create
your own ending.

12. The more I think about it, more I believe he was killed. My son's friend just called and
said he believed Tony's father was killed while having dinner out with the family. I don't recall that though.

I DO NOT WANT to create The Sopranos future!! I wanted a decent flipping ending.

Oh well. It was just a tv show.

11. I have to agree, this was a terrible ending. I think he's leaving it open-ended so he can
have another whack at the series in movie form, even though he says that's not his intention.

18. I'm relieved
I like that I can fill in my own ending. My own personal ending has Tony surviving to maybe face the music in an indictment.

I've grown fond of these characters and I didn't want to see it end in a blood bath in front of Carmella and the kids.

They gave us enough gore with Phil's head being rolled over.

I liked that Tony was avoiding visiting Syl, and when he finally did he held his hand.

I liked seeing what a total chicken shit Paulie really is, and loved the whole symbolic back story with the cat.

I liked that Tony hijacked the appointment with AJ's therapist -- the look on Carmella's face was priceless.

There was so much that I loved about this last episode.

42. Poor Paulie!
He spills his guts about seeing the Virgin Mary and Tony says, you waited to tell me? We could have made it a shrine, sold gallons of holy water. There was just enough hesitation to think Paulie might pull a gun and cap Tony. And then Paulie swallowed his anger and called Tony, my liege.

And then he took his perennial suntanning screen and put it under his chin and the cat sat down near him.

19. Well, even though I didn't get to see it, I'm just glad it apparently wasn't the ending
I read about earlier today. Which thankfully contained some hugely fake spoilers in it. That ending sucked, y'all. Glad Chase apparently either never filmed or scrapped it.

Looked like the same plate Phil's daughter was using when he got hit. My first thought was the guy at the bar was waiting for the daughter to arrive so he could kill Tony in front of his family ala Phil Leotardo.

36. Which was the point.
Six Feet Under dealt with life and death. It was natural for that show to focus on the end of life.

The Sopranos always walked a line w/ Tony. Was he the good guy he claimed to be or was he slime? That's for you to decide-it's always been for you to decide. And The Sopranos has always been about Tony. Everyone else took a distant second to him.

The ending is the same idea. Just like the decision you've made about Tony you now have to decide how this all ends. Does he live? Does he die? Does he die right there w/ his family? Is he imprisoned? Does he flee? Does he turn witness?

Who knows? Who cares? In real life nothing is black and white. Tony Soprano is not black or white. Why should the ending be tidy and cleared up?

27. Question: When Tony first walked into the restaurant....
Didn't he see himself sitting in the booth? Did I imagine that?

If so, does that mean the whole sequence with the family was a dream/heaven/after death kinda thing?

I'm trying really, really hard for some closure here...:banghead:

28. My take...
I spent the last minute screaming at Meadow to keep fucking up her parallel parking. However, in a quick moment, without a lot of time to think about it, my husband and I (we've watched all episodes) agreed that it ended well! It's up to each fan's interpretation, hopes and dreams (the entire series was about Tony's worries, hopes and dreams).

34. I loved the Agent Harris thing!
That seriously cracked me up. First, he tips off Tony on where Phil is, then he shouts out "they're gonna win this!!" when he finds out that Phil was whacked.

Funny shit! I've been wondering how Agent Harris would eventually play into things. That was awesome.

I'm still mourning the ending, however. And I'm getting a headache, I think from my HEART POUNDING the last couple of minutes of the show. I don't think I've ever been that tense/anxious watching a TV show before.
