Karma hates me.
I was doing pest control on Friday night. Essential plumbing repairs took a big chunk out of the kitchen wall, and every kind of arthropod vermin within a quarter-mile decided to take advantage and try to get into the kitchen.

Easiest way to get rid of insect pests is with a long-tube vacuum like this:

Pull the end brush off, suck them up, leave the vacuum running, pour some poison on the floor, suck that up, and stuff the tube with a paper towel so they can't get out.

Usually, it works just fine. Friday, it failed to do so.

Somehow, despite the suction, the poison, and the plug, a palmetto bug the size of my thumb got out of the tube while the vacuum was shut down and I wasn't looking.

How do I know it was the size of my thumb if I wasn't looking? Because I was still holding the fucking tube near the open end, and the palmetto bug promptly perched on that self-same thumb!

:puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke:

You may ask, while disgusting, why does this experience make me say "karma hates me?"

Simple. I'm cockroach-phobic.

It's been two days and I'm still getting phantom crawling sensations!

1. That's my worst nightmare!
I've vacuumed up hornets and spiders and I'm always afraid they're going to get out in the middle of the night and come git me!

:)

2. Oh ick!
I feel for you, I really do! But I'm also glad I'm not the only one that does that to kill the bugs! We get these HUGE spiders in the townhouse (they know I'm afraid of them and do it to torture me) so the roommate and I take turns with the vacuum. YUCK! Hope that icky feeling goes away soon!

3. I ain't scared of bugs but..
palmetto bugs are evil, lol.

I hate them. It was calming to know that they are like scavengers. Where they will come into your house, eat, then go back outside.

I feel for ya!

:hi:
