Got the BBC version of the Planet Earth series |
|
and wow. Just wow.
I saw two episodes on TV of the American version, narrated by Sigourney Weaver, and I was, frankly, disappointed.
But the BBC version - same footage, but narrated by David Attenborough, just seems MUCH better. Maybe I just associate Attenborough's voice with "documentary authority", but it's really much much better.
I wonder why they re-dubbed it for America? Who doesn't love an Attenborough-narrated nature documentary?

the BBC originally aired it with the Attenborough narration, but for some reason, they had Sigourney Weaver narrate the US version.

3. I've been watching the Attenborough stuff |

I think someone who actually knows and loves and has worked in the subject usually has more authority when speaking about it. Even if the words are the same.

I guess so.
Still, I was surprised at the difference in my reactions to the two versions.

I was going to order the series off the discovery channel website. I'll do it off the BBC website instead.
