What are people paying for groceries/household items?
Edited on Mon Jun-11-07 03:31 PM by butlerd
I just thought I'd take a moment and do a random survey of grocery/household expenses. My wife (who does the shopping) typically ends up spending roughly $200-300 for five people (including myself) every other week and then we usually have a side trip to the grocery between the BIG grocery trips that usually cost between another $50-100. I was wondering if these amounts are fairly typical for most people?

1. Too damn much!
About $25 a week for one person.

Which is too much considering I have a freezer full of meat & veggies that were not purchased at the grocery.

3. Usually about $200-300 every week for five of us.
But, one of those five is a teenaged boy with an insatiable appetite. And, he usually brings his friends with him. :eyes:

4. For the two of us
about 150.00 every two weeks, then we splurge and eat out twice a month, that takes a twenty dollar bill usually.

Gas is about 300 a month. Cash varies. We do buy some expensive frozen food (Schwans) during the school year because of convenience.

On edit: there are five adults and two children in our household
