I don't need your infected, weepy orbs oozing all over everything in the office. I'm sorry that you're trying to hang onto your sick days and vacation time, but have a little goddamned consideration for your fellow inmates in the workplace.

5. Don't fight it!
Where has self-restraint ever gotten anyone?

Just ask Michael Hutchence.

13. I know this girl who worked at subway
and she went to work with the flu because her boss wouldn't let her stay home. She was so infectious that when she came over to my house, she just stood at the doorway and said "Hey"...the next day I had the flu. I wonder how many people she made sick?

20. Elfrangel worked at a place like that once.
They would never 'let' her call in sick. I told her to go in, and puke all over the counter and cash register. They'll listen next time you try to call in.

11. I got a norovirus from work late last year
...which I no doubt got from a resident at my nursing home.

To err on the side of caution, I called in sick-three days (per MD's order).

It was disgusting: I had it coming out both ends, had to get some prescription meds and the anti-emisis had a side-effect of sedation.

My recognition for playing it safe? I got written-up, per corporate policy (Extendicare). I bet if I showed up and crapped my scrubs they still wouldn't let me go home without some official disciplinary action in place.

Be a slave to your workplace or prepare for it to become one of those "jobs that Americans won't do."

12. I hate it when people who have gastritis do that.
Well, rarely will they come at work, but earlier this year I was playing a gig with some other bands, and one of the musicians I didn't know had it and still decided to come and play, and he gave it to half the people there. Bra-fucking-vo asshole. :grr:

15. we had this problem at my daughter's school
She came home with pinkeye probable 5 or 6 times over the course of a couple months. I kept her home until she'd been on antibiotics at least 24 hours but I think I'm the only parent who did. Worse still, I went to help out at school and there's a girl with a huge scabby patch of impetigo on her face. I asked the teacher if that was perhaps not a good idea (2nd graders). She didn't know what it was. WTF? I shudder to think of some of the stuff kids are exposed to at school.

17. I got it so bad from a co-worker that I had to leave work to go to the eye doctor
( fortunately he was right around the corner ) to get some drops put in there. I ended up going back to work two hours later with a strange yellow tint in my eyes because he decided it was time for my annual eye-exam ( they put these weird drops in your eyes before you view the chart ) The pink-eye lasted a couple of days....I was prescribed antibiotic eye drops for it. It is a total pain-in-the-ass!!!!!!!!

I think it was about a 5-day course, I'm not sure. He said it was highly contagious.
