They can smell meat, you know, in cat poo. That's why they go digging for treats.

It's the gift that keeps on giving. I find fractions of animals by the door, or sometimes inside. The cat is generous, usually leaving me the biggest, tastiest morsels. Ain't love grand?
Once in a while, it carries in a live one, just so I can share in the joy of hunting. That always makes my day. Chipmunks, birds, rabbits, bats. All fun to chase around in the house.

15. terriers will be terriers. |
|
living in the big city, rodents are a constant pain. i have 3 little terriers, and when they bring he a corpse, i cheer. especially since that means they didn't swallow it. they do like to throw them up in the air, pretending to catch them all over again. i frown on that. but gently.

it was dead. how old is this dog? are you looking at 15 years of panic attacks? maybe it would be worth it to you to do something about your phobia? i just feel sorry for your pup. so many terriers have owners that get upset with them for being terriers. which, i admit, is hard not to do at least some of the time.

21. A couple of weeks ago |

our Siberian Husky didn't want to come in from the yard. He tends to sleep outside at night when it's cool, so we didn't think too much of it, but did notice that he was sleeping in a part of the yard that he normally doesn't. So, finally my husband got him inside with a treat and went to examine the new den. He found a dead raccoon that the silly husky had gotten. He wasn't eating it, just guarding it from the other dogs. That makes 3 raccoons, 2 birds and a mole that this husky has gotten over the years - that we know of anyway. Pretty good for a dog that's not known as a hunter.

there was a squirrel in a little tree in my yard yesterday, and she was as nutty about it as the terriers. which is hard to do.
