Keep the hot side hot, and the cool side cool.

Do you remember the McDLT? The burger on one side and the lettuce and tomato on the other? Put it together and you have the best thing McDonalds ever sold (not that that is saying much).

Excellent commercial featuring a young Jason Alexander doing something resembling dancing.

2. Dairy Queen did that for a while, too
The sandwiches were much better. You couldn't pay me to eat at Dickey Mees.

5. I remember the commercial
Never had one though. I don't do fast food burgers.

But it makes sense. One of the best things about grilling your own burger is that you get to eat it while the lettuce is still crisp. Texture is very underrated.

6. After years of thinking that the bun was key in a hamburger
I have finally come to the conclusion that they really are only a delivery system. I now make my burgers with the same recipe I use for meatballs - lots of parmesan, garlic and breadcrumbs. Very moist. And the bun - just a boring smooshy white buns.

7. Have you ever tried tortillas?
They work great. And you can wrap the burger and fixings so that nothing falls out.

For me, the key ingredient is a slice of a big fat Sweet Onion. Walla Walla Sweets, to be exact.

9. Yes...I remember the commercial and I remember the sandwich
It makes perfect sense, though....if you were to make your own burger with those ingredients the tomatoes and lettuce would be refrigerated items well before you had the burger itself ready to serve. Whenever I have a cookout, I pre-slice the tomatoes and stick them in the fridge to chill. There is nothing more disgusting than a warm-to-hot tomato on a burger.

10. It was weird the way it had one cool bun half and one warm bun half.
Other than that, it was pretty good. I do think of the McDLT from time to time.

12. It amuses me to no end that the sockpuppet vigilante brigade has a batting average of 0
:D I'd been in contact with a member who left the board voluntarily (without a big dramatic goodbye, for a change), and the speculative, obsessively researched accusations of zombiedom and sockpuppetry concerning that user at least have been a real treat.

13. I am not part of any 'brigade'
I am not referring to someone who left this board voluntarily, so I have no idea who you are talking about.

Speaking of obsessive behavior, your stalking of me is more than a bit creepy. Do you sexually fantasize about me that much? :scared:

14. What does my post have to do with you?
The only snide sockpuppet accusations I'm talking about had to do with the former DUer I mentioned. People assumed another DUer was his sockie, and followed the poster from thread to thread posting about it. I didn't see you in any of those, so why the snark? I scarcely ever reply to you.

And to answer your question, no.
