I like mine, It's Jeremy. But if I had a choice I'd be either Charlie or Foster.

1. I like my name
It's old-fashioned, but that's ok with me. It's a family name and I'm proud of my family.

My name is Mary Alice

2. I like mine, although people often mess it up
and I considered going by my middle name, which is an old family name, until some celebrity ruined it for me.

9. I'm reminded of the old joke
about the guy who went to court to have his name changed.

"And what is your name?" the judge asked.

"Joe Shit."

"Well, no wonder you want to change it. What would you like to change it to?"

"Sam Shit."

"Let me understand this: Your name is Joe Shit, and you want to change it to Sam Shit?"

"Yes, your honor."

"Why would you want to make that change?"

"I'm sick of all my friends saying, 'Hello, Joe! Whaddya know?'"

10. I was just complaining to a friend
about how people CANNOT pronounce or spell my last name. And that makes no sense! It's 6 letters, each one doing its job. Looks like it's pronounced, pronounced as it's spelled. I guess it looks ethnic--German, but again, doesn't have any odd letter combinations or anything. There's a story about me on the local radio station the last couple of days (nothing really, quotes me at a community meeting) and they keep mispronouncing my name!! My perfectly pronounceable name! Which means they'd mispronounce anything but "Smith" (though that "th" thing can be tricky!). So, I'd keep my last name, I guess.

And I've come to like my first name. It's fairly common, but not to the point where it's boring. Not in the top 10, but not so exotic as to be weird. And even morans seem to be able to pronounce and spell it.

So, I guess I'd keep 'em.

12. I legally changed my first name in January 2006
I always HATED my real first name, and I LOVE my new name, I had been using it officially as a nickname for about 6 years anyhow.

When the judge said, permission granted, I felt like I was a new person! Goodbye to that hideous old name!!

It's kind of old fashioned but I like the fact that I was named for my two aunts. On the other hand, when I go to Jamba Juice and they ask me my name, I use Kate because they have to ask me three times what my real name is.

19. Mine was the result of an ego trip
A junior. In fact was supposed to be lesser clone of my father, but turned out taller, smarter and with more common sense. He didn't like. Once he told me I should name my kid after him. I said the kid gets his own name. He wasn't happy with that either. Better yet, my parents won't have descendants from me.

After I become emperor or demigod, I'll decree that people get to choose their own parents and names.

growing up.

I wanted to be named

APRIL. (the month I was born)

Or maybe: Alessandra or Tessandra

or - Leigh

or something cool.....

I don't dislike it anymore - but it still doesn't seem to FIT me, you know?

Like it's not really *my* name or who I am.

I wonder who I should be, instead?

37. My name is fine. However, when pronounced correctly it sounds snobbish...
way too continental, if you know what I mean.

I'd rather be Sue Smith. It's a much more marketable publishing name. When I finally hit the print, I'm hesitant to use my real name.

40. I'm not particularly fond of my first name
It has one syllable. So does my last name.

I don't mind being either one seperately, but the combination together is abrupt.

However, I'm not inclinded to change it, either.

I like the name that my son has: Samuel Ellis <lastname>.
