Wish me luck. Mammogram in 2 hours. |
|
Haven't had one in over 3 years and just a wee bit terrified.
Plus I could never get a straight answer from any agency here in Florida about qualifying for low income status even tho I worked for Americorp part of last year so made zip for money. $162.50 unless they have to retake some x-rays and then it will cost more.
I am cranky today.

Jee-sus.
In the meantime, I gets me a call from the hospital telling me they made an error and that I do qualify for a free mammogram and to call back on Monday to arrange for that.
I wonder if a "beware of Michael Moore" memo went out to all the hospitals.

I shiver at the way the technician views the digital photo on the screen...attempting to keep a "benign" look on her face.

13. ouch! they knew they couldn't get a clear pic but they tried anyway... |
|
ended up also getting a sonogram which is a very porno experience- the nurse wipes your boobs with jelly and comes at you with a tool. anyway, my diagnosis was having criminally teenaged looking boobs. that made up for the fact that they all but stepped on them for no reason.

The technician slapped mine on the plate like dead fish and gave me her scripted rant. It was so pleasant I ran the fuck outta there squealing like a little baby.

15. Nothing more fun than being turned into a breast sandwich... |
|
Thank goodness my radiologist is a woman! She warms the equipment (worse than a breast sandwich is a cold breast sandwich), and gives you the results before you leave.
I always thought that men should be forced to have a tender part of their bodies squished on a cold X-ray plate so they could experience the joy as well.

26. The technology has improved..... |
|
since you had one, most likely. At least that's what I found when I had a mammogram in Dec. after several years. Now they use a digital camera instead of film. So, if they decide they need to take more pictures, it happens right away rather than you having to come in again. Makes for a longer visit, but you don't have to come back.
Good luck.
