1. Oh, man.
My 3 year old is a Thomas fanatic, and has all kinds of their toys. Crap, crap, crap. Thank you so much for posting this.

2. You're welcome.
I know Thomas is so popular. We have buckets and buckets of their toys. I don't understand how this can happen! Why do they even put lead in paint anymore? Let alone in paint that is going to be sold to toy manufacturers! It's freaking crazy.

3. It's crazy, and it seems like it's been happening more and more.

This isn't the first recall based on lead paint I've seen. One was a recall of a toy given away by public libraries all over the country. Recalls are going to happen, but there's no excuse for lead based paint. And, Thomas toys?! It makes me wonder what else mhy kids have in their toy box that is questionable. I'm so mad. You can't trust anything anymore. I think the Bush administration is to blame in part for gutting the agencies that are supposed to be protecting us from this.

4. I'm really so upset, I feel like leaving the office.
My son is in day care right now, and my husband called over there to make sure they didn't have any of the recalled toys. So my son is "safe" right now. But one of the recalled trains I purchased after his last blood test. I have to get his blood tested again. I can't believe I bought poison for my son and handed it to him and watched him play with it and was happy about it.

I know you understand what it's like to have a child who is nuts over Thomas. He has hundreds of toys and he almost exclusively plays with his Thomas trains. It makes him so happy, we have bought him Thomas EVERYTHING! And the stuff is not cheap! I feel totally betrayed. I don't know what I'll do if his blood work shows he's ingested lead from these toys.

There are so many things that can harm our kids. We spend every second of our lives protecting them from cars and electricity and chords and scissors and predators and the millions of things that can hurt them. To have them hurt by something we gave them with joy is just unbearable.

5. Oh no!
Thank you so much for posting this. My son's got tons of Thomas toys. We mostly have the metal ones, but he's got wooden ones too. Looking at the pictures, I think he just has James out of those shown, and those 2 signs I think he has somewhere, but I'm gonna go check through them all and give them a call. And call my Mom, because he's got some more wooden ones over there too. I'm getting so angry. How on earth could they put lead paint on these?! Kids put toys in their mouths, everybody knows that don't they?!

6. No doubt!
I feel a little better now after talking to my office mate, who directs our Early Childhood programs. She asked me if there was chipped or missing paint on his trains. Since there's not, she says I shouldn't worry.

Still, it's just not cool.

7. I checked my son's trains
The couple I was worried about have WJ in the code on the bottom, and the rest are metal or older ones that don't have a code at all. The website says there haven't been any reports of illness because of this yet. I strongly hope it stays that way.

8. All mine were from before the recall thankfully.
My youngest son is almost six and out of his heavy duty Thomas phase, but we have lots of them. Phew! I can still save them for the grandkids. :)
