Birders/humans: this might be an interesting report/article
The National Audubon Society put out a report yesterday about the decline of bird populations.

1. Bummer
I made fun of you yesterday for being a bird nerd, but I am as well.

Sad to see that is happening.

3. yup
All the pretty birdies going away.

I'm a bird nerd because someone turned me on to it. I was always curious but didn't know how to go about it. I'd thank her every day I figure out a new bird. Fun Stuffs!

5. Did you know~only a small percentage of birds live long enough to reproduce.

This Osprey is a lucky one.

The Pelicans below weren't so lucky. They are in a wildlife rescue shelter in The Florida Keys.

6. Why?
Do they die after their babies leave the nest? Do they get killed? Eaten by prey?

7. Some of the eggs never hatch because the shell has become too thin from
contamination due to the misuse of pesticides. Some babies are eaten by predators.

Over 800 bird species migrate through or call America their home.

8. That makes sense
We humans are kind of driving them off in one way or another. :(
