Fabulous pics! Someday, I'll get to Munich in, oh I don't
know, October? If I can hold the camera after partaking of
German beer, I'll post pics!

Good Job!!!

Last summer I attended a university course in Wittenberg and passed the Schlosskirche (where your photo was taken) every morning.

How long were you in Wittenberg?

You got to spend the whole summer in Wittenberg?

Oh, you lucky dog you!

We were there only one day....

And what a day it was!

Did you like the pics? I need to know!

19. Yes, wonderful photos
And, yes, I spent the entire summer in Wittenberg attending school, teaching classes, and living with a host family on the banks of the Elbe. While you were in this area did you get to go to the Wörlitzer Gartenreich near Dessau? Or, since you like churches, did you go to Naumberg and see the church there?

Alas, since we were with a group, we didn't get to any of those other places...

We've decided that group travel works for us...we like having someone else carry our bags and drive us around!

But then that does limit what you get to see...

Your German must be extremely fluent! But I seem to remember that you know it very well...

We were walking down the main street......

The view from the park is wonderful...everything is so damn green!

And the graffitti sure is weird.....Who knows what they were thinking?

Thanks for posting these.....

Here is the entrance to the school where I taught. It is the Hundertwasserschule which is considered to be an architectural work of art. I especially liked the tree growing out of the window.

35. The design of this school seemed to inspire the students
to have them take pride in their school and their work. The schools where I am are so bland and boring... maybe if we tried the same concept an improvement might occur... who knows?

47. Well, it's not really about "religion" for me, so no chance of offending my sensibilities.....
As an "artist", I have a certain interest in the HISTORY of art.

And the fact is that "the church" spent a good millenia and and a half
exersizing near-absolute control over the most basic ideas of what "art" WAS.

The early "religious art" wasn't just about pictures- those images were all
about the SYMBOLISM, on a level not seen again until the Dadaists were
finally forced to "put up or shut up" and became the SURREALISTS back in the
gap between the first two World Wars.

As a "surrealist" myself, I would be a fool to ignore the incredible
accomplishments in "symbolism" made by so many pre-Enlightenment
artists working in the field of "Church Decoration".
.............................................................

And just let me say- you're pretty good with that camera!
None of my vacation pics ever come out as nice as that.

And since I'm never going to see the places you took those pics of,
your post was a real treat for me.
