The father's day memory I will take to my grave.
When my children were about five or six or seven
{it all happens so quickly}, we went to the minor
league team here in Tucson.
One particular evening, Grandpa wasn't there.
So instead of sitting in the stadium, we went to
the right field bleachers.
First thing the kids insisted on being in the top row,
then in the bottom row, finally settling for about the tenth row.
Fine.
Dad, can we get a hot dog?
Sure, kids.
So I'm sitting there in the bleachers, kids are making their
way back, loaded with dogs and drinks.
The bottom of the first is in play on the field,
foul ball, right to me.
I had my son's glove, my son and daughter were three rows
away, watching me catch that baseball.

:hi:

I love high ceilings.

I'd love to catch a fly ball. I can see it now, catcher's mitt at the ready, me ducking in fear of getting beaned by the ball, it sailing about 5 feet over my head.

On edit: Thanks For the new nickname! Mudhen!

11. Hi Ptah! "I'll be home, Dad, I don't know when... But we'll get together then, Dad...

I know we'll have a good time then."

We heard from only two-fifths of our five-child family today. The other three are still missing in action, those creeps. (His kids from a former marriage. I know he was disappointed.)

Anyway, we went to the Dixie Mountain Grange in North Plains, Oregon, and Grandpa had the biggest whipped cream, strawberry and cake dessert.

The two local grandkids also gave us a couple of bottles of strawberry jam they had made with their mother.

My oldest grandchild here is going out with Grandpa all day tomorrow (School is over for her... hooray!). They're driving to Seaside, Oregon, to be beside the seaside, by the beautiful (Pacific Ocean). It's about 60 miles one way.

And, Tuesday night, I'm taking my grandson to see "STOMP" the musical. I think he'll really like it!

Have a good week in AZ!

PS. Great baseball story, really. Thanks for sharing it.

13. Very nice. You are a great person. Whatever Dad did to us, we have
to come to the conclusion that it would/will just have to be enough.

14. Sounds like you had a swell day
At minimum.. a swell memory.

I tried to remember a good Father's Day happening for me but came up blank. This year is near the top of list though.
