3. My buddy paid
:)

I bought two drinks and it cleared my wallet..LOL.

But I thought it was worth the price (the food that is). Best brisket I have ever had.

9. The drinks make a lot of difference.
I know places that arguably have better BBQ, but if you want to sit back and toss down some nice beers from tap, then Famous Dave's is the way to go.

Until I found out how good the brisket it was. I know, bad etiquette, but I wanted to taste the sauce.

14. Never been to Missouri to taste in first hand
But I have eaten other BBQ around the country. I know KC has some good stuff and one day I will get there. I just told someone last night that if I won the lottery, I would just travel around and check out places and their food. BBQ being the main one.

That brisket has the most amazing flavor!

I have heard they closed some of their restaurants lately. Has anyone else heard about that?

I wouldn't worry about restaurant closings.
Trust me barbeque is alive and well here.
I would bet that it is the best in the country..Probably the world.

39. I like those guys too.
They are actually more convenient for me since they are in Urbana. I have never walked out of there feeling any less than STUFFED.

I have a gift card to Little Porgies that is over a year old and I haven't used it yet. I don't like them as much--but I will also say that most BBQ is all right with me. The chicken at Porgies is pretty good, however.

I think the BEST ribs I have EVER had were in a rib place in Memphis. The restaurant was in the basement of some building and I want to say it was called The Rendezvous or something like that. I have never had BBQ in KC, nor have I had it in Kentucky.

I'm thinking there are vacation possibilities here--a BBQ pilgrimage! I did it one time to the Mississippi Delta for Blues, maybe I need to do it for BBQ...

There's something not quite right about their sandwiches, though. The bread gets too...gooey or something.

28. North Olmstead, Great Northern Plaza.
Had some of their ribs at the Great American Rib Cook Off in May. Definitely better than the first time I ate FDs. These ribs were juicy and flavorful - the one sample I got from them the previous year were savory but had a dry texture.

19. Yes, but I prefer one of my local BBQ places!
I don't have a local Famous Dave's, but have eaten at three - one close to work, one close to my mom's house, and the last one at Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH. I've enjoyed all of the meals there, however there is a small place in Easton, PA, Fat Daddy's, that definitely beats Dave's.

Here's a link to them, if anybody is in the Lehigh Valley, or visiting Allentown, Easton, or Bethlehem, PA. http://fatdaddysbarbq.com/

23. Red, Hot & Blue is so much better than Famous Dave's
And they serve Memphis Dry Ribs and Carolina BBQ, not into ketchup, that is why this place ROCKS!!

In the late 1980’s three Southerners and a transplanted Yankee longed for authentic southern barbeque and the great blues music they all loved. Unable to find that winning combination anywhere in the Washington, DC area they decided the only way to get it done was to open a restaurant of their own. That first Red Hot & Blue restaurant was conceived and opened its doors to rave reviews in Arlington, VA just a few short miles from our nations capital where three of the founders worked on Capital Hill. One of the original investor/founders was then-U.S. Rep. Don Sundquist of Memphis, who served 12 years in the House of Representatives and eight years as governor of Tennessee. Another original investor was the late Lee Atwater, a blues musician and legendary political figure who managed George H.W. Bush’s successful race for the presidency and served as chairman of the Republican National Committee. It was just a group of good ole boys who wanted to eat good barbeque, listen to some good rhythm and blue tunes and make friends in the process; they were successful beyond their wildest imagination.

24. Well, there's the problem
You shouldn't put ketchup on ribs. :)

I've eaten ribs in Memphis at the Rendezvous, fantastic ribs. I like dry rubs and wet ribs. I liked the brisket at Famous Dave's. I'm pretty open minded when it comes to BBQ, I think it all has a chance to be good.

44. no, Famous Daves is much better than Red, Hot, and Blue
aside from the fact that Lee Atwater, hit man for the first Bush, sleezeball supreme, started the Red, Hot, and Blue .... repuke, repuke, repuke ...

I found the food much much better at Famous Daves. I don't like the sweet, sugary BBQ of RHB.

and I love it. :9

Of course, there's a great local barbecue another block past that, so I have plenty of delicious barbecue within rolling distance--and when I go to either one I usually feel like I have to roll myself home :)

36. I have, but they're not as good as the ones I make
I had to go to Memphis a few years ago on business. My friend down there took me to this old, greasy hole-in-the-wall dive. I thought I had died and gone to heaven the food was so good. When I got back to Wisconsin, I pledged to learn how to make good BBQ. It's taken me a few years, but now I can say that I make some pretty good ribs.

places that look like they are about to be torn down from the outside are places that I target for good food.

I'm vegetarian so I don't eat there. I was carrying 5 big trays of buns and damn-near did a 3-Stooges slip on the greasy-ass kitchen floor. After going through the kitchen, I was pretty sure I wouldn't eat there if I did eat meat.

Had it once, takeout from their franchise in Manchester, NH. Overcooked and tough.

If you're in Manchester campaigning for your favorite candidate, go with KC's Rib Shack. It's on Second St. on the West Side.
