"God knows Judas not pay!"
In the Philippines a person travels by jeepney and gets from one end of town to the other. The jeepneys travel on no set time schedule but the routes are set and the color of the vehicle indicates the route. We usually take the red one. If I was not married, I'd probably take the blue jeepneys more often.....

The view through the windshield is usually partially obscured by a crocheted banner with "God Bless Our Trip" and other symbols of faith, the owner's family name, or other informative placards such as the title of this thread. The vehicles make strange mechanical sounds reminiscent of bad bearings and smoke a great deal. With any luck the driver can go fast enough to get a slight breeze through the passenger compartment. The road is bumpy so don't go that route unless you have a strong spine. Your fellow passengers are usually friendly and helpful although on occasion one will try and steal your watch. All this for only 4 pesos (about 7.5 US cents).

I have decided that this will be our year for travel as insurance against Bush getting a second term.

I figure it this way. People around the world know that Bush did not come by his office honestly. But they recognize that even a strong democracy such as the U.S. can be hijacked. However, if Bush stays, well, then all bets are off and the American people did not fulfill their obligation to safeguard their democracy and dump this guy.

Plus Bush will probably push the pause button on his wars just long enough to get re-elected and then re-start his crusade to get everybody else in the world to hate us once the results are in (once again, delaying the election outcome results may save many lives!).

Therefore we can expect attacks against individual Americans. This and the continued devaluation of the dollar will make travel in the second term an expensive and risky proposition.

In addition, I get the chance as a goodwill ambassador, smiling at babies and shoveling sand against the Bush tide. People around the world must be told that this is just an aberration and not a permanent change in the way America is.

In a few hours, I go out again. God, bless my trip (please).
