Most powerful character in film other than God?
That means no representations of God (eg. George Burns) or his surrogates (Jim Carrey). And let's keep Satan out of it, while we're at it.

Let's also leave out ha-ha references to Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, et al., both because of the "No Satan" rule and because I'm asking more about fictional characters.

Who/what is the most powerful character portrayed on film? For the sake of discussion, let's keep it to films produced since, say, 1970.

I can think of a few, but it seems to me that there are many more on tv than on the big screen:

Galactus in The Fantastic Four Part Deux
That cornfield kid in The Twilight Zone Movie
Yoda
Phoenix in X-Men Part Trois

Let's hear some others!

21. Q. Perhaps Mu'ad Dib. Though "Clash of the Titans" had some heavy hitters.
Though now that Fantastic Four is out, Galactus is the most powerful I can think of, esp. since Q never appeared in a movie, only on TV.

I always thought Q would have made a great character for a Star Trek movie, but alas, it did not happen.

A bunch of those Greek Gods were in "Clash of the Titans"

And, Paul "Muad'Dib" Atreides became pretty god-like in Dune.

as Carlo Bartolucci/Charlie Barret in "Suicide Kings." The way he goes from an initially very dire situation and turns it around---so that he walks out with his kidnappers fearful and apologizing---is a real kind of power.

Though, after reading upthread, I'd have to agree with the mentions of Mu'ad Dib.
