Holy CRAP formatting a 500 GB hard drive takes a long time!!

Sheesh. I thought this was the time of instantaneous computing!

THEN I get to run a check disk on it to make sure it's in good shape. That will likely take even longer!!

Where do I file my complaint?

3. LOL

I'll bet he IS! ;)

The funny thing is ... I'm adding this drive to my puter cuz I'm out of space, yet there's a terrabyte of space just chillin' in the NAS that's still in the box under the desk. Oh, the pain of suffering from not enough outlets.

5. I think I'm going to have to upgrade my house's electrical system.
Did you ever think you'd need a terabyte of ANYTHING?

6. HahahahHA.

Did YOU?

Ever think there'd be a possibility you'd have a climate controlled server farm in your garage?

10. Oops.

Perhaps I should have waited to tell you that until I'm actually *there*. :hide: It's a lot easier to kick me out before I get there!

11. Can we put really big fans out there instead?
:D

Do we REALLY need a bedroom? Maybe we can sleep in hammocks or something.

12. Haha!

I work for a small, local ISP/telco/cableco where I am a jack of all trades, master of none! :D LAN support, WAN support, development, network admin, server admin, and yes, telephone support although not usually.

If I DIDN'T have a job and money were no object then a server farm in Dave's garage would be SWEET! I would love dicking around with technology all day. Unfortunately, it's not quite realistic. We WILL have a bitchin' assed hookup going on though. Especially when we get a much larger house. w00t!

7. I know
but I figure that all it needs to do is wipe any MFT and start at zero. The entire disk doesn't all have to be zeros for new files.
