Any Chicago(land) DUers that can help me find a good place to keep a car?
Edited on Wed Jun-20-07 06:24 AM by JVS
I'm up here for a couple of months and would like to fetch my car from my hometown so that I can do stuff like not pay $1.28 per roll of toilet paper, do laundry cheaply, grocery shop, shuttle back home on the occasional weekend, etc. Since I don't plan on driving at all during the week, places in the suburbs near metra lines would be ideal because there isn't the whole "must be moved every 72 hours" deal going. I could even pay a small amount if you have a spot in a driveway for a small car. Feel free to PM if you don't want to discuss arrangements out here.

1. What do you have against $1.28 toilet paper?

4. This is the cheapest I could find
I checked the CTA and O'Hare but Metra stations seem the cheapest.

A few are free but they are way out in the boonies but many are $1 a day, $.28 less than the TP.

5. I think I'd have to go there every day, and that's if overnight is even allowed.
I'm really looking for more of a person at whose house I can stash the car,

I have a 2 car garage half filled with my son's stuff from college and 3 cars in the family, plus I am not close to public transportation.

I'm not sure of the rules at the Metra parking lots.

There is free on street parking in Chicago in residential neighborhoods but for many you need a permit.

7. I don't really want to go through the hassle of getting a permit, and my neighborhood kind of sucks

I am just outside of the University's Green Zone, so to speak. I'd prefer to spend a little time on the weekend getting to the car, to having to spend worktime dealing with the hassle of a break-in or theft, which would truly suck ass. I'll put it up in the IL forum tonight.
