Confess your musical guilty pleasures here and now! |
|
Just let it all out. You'll feel much better.
I have many, most of which I can't muster shame about, but here goes...
The Carpenters (selected songs that really do kick ass) Hall and Oates (underappreciated pop geniuses) Bee Gees (truly amazing singing on great pop songs) Conway Twitty (especially "You've Never Been This Far Before") "Sugar, Sugar" by the Archies! "Screaming for Vengeance" by Judas Priest

I like Sugarland, Little Big Town and other new country artists. If you go to Beth Nielsen Chapman's myspace page, she has a political site linked - Music Row Democrats or Blue Rednecks or something similar. I think Pam Tillis is part of that group too.
I think the lyrics, while sugary at times, are honest and I just like it.
So there. ;)

As long as you don't try to "Cowboy Up" or some such rot you should be just fine.

I also like folk, classic rock, classical and jazz. Like my daughter Lelapin says, something will get my full attention until something bright and shiny distracts me. ;)
(ADD humor...)
How's Portland these days? My parents moved there 14 years ago and refuse to come back east. Ever.

No, not really my musical guilty pleasure, but I've had the damn thing stuck in my head for days now and do't want to suffer alone!

8. Travis Tritt's Here's A Quarter song |
|
I don't own it but I remember when it was on the radio constantly where I worked and I kind of liked it, along with its sentiments

18. Travis Tritt went to my high school |
|
although he graduated 4 or 5 years before me. I like some of his music, even if I hate Nashville country in general. The stuff he did with Marty Stuart (a very, very good musician) is pretty good.

9. If I like it, I'm proud of it. What is this "guilty pleasure" of which you speak? |
|
Nothing but the bowing of the weak to the dictates of the bully elite. All elites should be shunned. They should feel guilty, not me.

Barry White, Donna Summers, Gloria Gayner, Blondie -- can't beat that disco beat to keep your energy pumping to clean the house. Yup, these days I use Barry White music to clean the house by. How things have changed.
