Is anyone besides me NOT going to watch the SOTU?
I really don't think I'm capable of watching Whistle Ass primp and smirk.

I liked it when Comedy Central used to run its play-by-play commentary of the SOTU (a la MST3K). Wish they'd bring that back, but I fear those days are gone forever.

1. Definitely not watching.
If we don't just sit & read, Mrs. V. and I have several episodes of "Monk" and "SVU" on tape that we haven't watched yet. If we run out of those we'll go to our "West Wing" 1st season DVDs.

I haven't the stomach to hear that brainless dickless asshole whine and smirk and act like a swaggering ass.

Y'know the big rant Chevy Chase does near the end of "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation?" I'd like to post it of *, but I like Chevy Chase too much.

movie, which I still haven't seen. I'd much rather look at the South Park gang instead of President Asswipe.

3. No, I won't watch it either
Personally, I find TV to be a terrible medium for political analysis. I will read the transcript of it, but won't bother to watch it on TV.

Of course, it's also a personal health issue for me -- seeing the smirking chimp on TV and listening to his babble often subjects me to fits of endless wretching. :puke:

5. I can't - I'll be at my Bush-mandated second job...
...but I probably wouldn't anyway.

Why subject myself to the same vacuous, ill-conceived, pandering and gloating (with the GOP side applauding after EVERY SINGLE SENTENCE).

I have no stomach for it, and besides, I can recite it to myself sight unseen if I wanted to.

I'm with you, mac56

6. I don't have the intestinal fortitude to wach Bush live
but I will watch The Daily Show. Alas, I'll probably have to wait until tomorrow to see Jon Stewart's take on the SOTU. Meanwhile, I'll catchup Wednesday am on CSPAN's Washington Journal. Just can't do the "live" viewing. It's too humiliating to know that this great country is being led by this unread, faux cowboy, ill-mannered braggart.

27. Actually, no.
Questions are read by one of the pub owners, an actual Irishman. Figuring out his accent is part of the game. :D There are 8 rounds of 10 questions each. Fill in the blank answer sheets. Between rounds, the sheets are graded and scores revealed. There are about 12 qualifying rounds. Winning teams are invited to a finals round where the grand prize is awarded. (This go-round the grand prize is 4 round-trip tickets to Ireland.)

51. So you can hear how often they agree
with Bush? They wont tear him apart as they should so why even watch that? It'll be a Bush love fest and I can't stand that. Politicians with a conscience would refuse to stand when he entered a room and would turn their backs on that man.

Clinton was treated with little respect for eight years and I say the three years of coddling this spoiled brat frat party boy for Jesus has received is approx. 999 days too much.

It's just going to be an orgy of more Bush propaganda and lies.
Why watch that drivel, and all that phony clapping at every 5th word?

Ray Tagliaferro (ph) of KGO AM said this morning that if it's ok to clap, then it should be ok to boo. They boo in British and Canadian parliaments, and god knows how many other democracies, but not here. I never thought of it, but he's right.

As in... "Weaponsh of mash dish-truct-shun."

The man is a freakin' moron. An idiot barely capable of forming a complete thought on his own.

I cannot stand. The way he reads. In short bursts. Pausing every three. Or four words. He reads each new line. On the teleprompter. As though it. Were a complete. Sentence.

AHHHH! AHHH! Ahhhhh! AHHHHHHH! AHHHHHHHHH!
Shut up! Shut UP! SHUT UP! SHUT THE FUCK UP!

He's a god damned fucking FREAK! An idiotic manchild FREAK!

48. Clinton Practically Had His Speeches MEMORIZED...
he knew the topics fully. He understood them completely. He could speak extemporaneously.

All Clinton really needed were 3x5 index cards to remind him of the highlights to hit and the points not to forget.

Can you imagine what a mess Bush* would be in if the teleprompter monitor went on the blink?

49. That actually happened to Clinton, BTW
The wrong speech was fed into the teleprompter at the beginning of one of Clinton's SOTU's. Clinton noticed it...but ad-libbed (he was talking about health care) until the right draft of the speech was fed into the teleprompter.

No one noticed the flub. A brilliant display of Clinton's command of the facts.

If that happened to Bush, the effects would be comical, to say the least.
