I can't help myself. Many interactions for me tonight about music. So,
I have to post these:

Bobby Darin:

Beyond The Sea:

And, Mack the Knife (for some reason, a song I find extremely sexy and sensuous):

Feel free to add your related, and totally UNRELATED songs/videos.

1. Threepenny Opera is fantastic
Und der Haifisch
der hat Zähne
und die trägt er im Gesicht

und MacHeath der hat ein Messer
doch das Messer sieht man nicht.

An 'nem schönen blauen Sonntag
liegt ein toter Mann am Strand
und ein Mensch geht um die Ecke

den man Mackie Messer nennt.

If not, I'll search. I'd love to hear it!

I love hearing different kinds of music and/or music I am familiar with, but sung in the original or different language!

6. VERY cool.
Got my first exposure to that on the Ernie Kovacs show. He used it as a backup to some of the most bizarre and original sight comedy ever conceived, and not exceeded since.

Thanks for the memory, MissH!!

I love pretty much everything Frank did, but this song really touches me. Probably because I want to dance when I hear it.

And as an added bonus, Diana Krall, doing the same song. Another great version of this song.

10. Okay, so I'm replying to myself right now.
Prolly 'cause it's that time on DU when folks 'round the world are either sleeping, just getting up, just going to bed, or working.

Anyhoo, here's a youtube clip of one of the bestest movie bits evah: Gene Kelly and Singin' In The Rain. This song puts a smile on my face every time I hear it!

11. Hey SeattleGirl! I haven't been sleeping. I've been listening to The Young Turks with Wes Clark, Jr.
I'm glad he and his father are on our side. I really enjoyed your post of Singin' In the Rain. We love watching old black and white movies on AMC. Here's one from Bing Crosby:

Cheek to Cheek!

I got to meet Ms. Rogers when I was working at a hotel. Magnficant woman.

She did not walk into a room, she FLOATED! She GLIDED. A most ethereal woman.

It was one of the highlights of my life meeting her. Mr. Astair was already gone by then, but meting Ms. Rogers was so wonderful.

14. I hate to see any of the "old school" entertainers pass away. I hate to see the links
to the glory days of Hollywood get severed. Here's someone who kept the links alive while she was here, Eva Cassidy:

17. Yes I do. I love music from the 40s. It reminds me of my Dad and takes me back to a simpler time
Edited on Thu Jun-21-07 09:13 AM by irkthesmirk
It's the same reason I like watching movies from that era. Here's one of my favorites from the Andrews sisters:
