Led Zeppelin's Coda - your honest opinion? |
|
I like this album. Although not Physical Graffiti, it's still a good odds and ends album.
"We're Gonna Groove" is a great opener, and if they would have included some of these songs instead of "Caroselaramba" on ITTOD, that would have been a better album,

1. As a Zep fan, I must confess |
|
I'm not too familiar with that album.
Poor Tom's a pretty good number though.

2. I think the version of "I Can't Quit You" is better on CODA |
|
Coda is what it is - leftover songs that never made it on any of the other albums. CODA was not their next album after "In Thru the Out Door". In fact We're Gonna Groove was a regular staple of many Led Zeppelin concerts from the early years.
All of the songs, cept "I Can't Quit You" were never released before. Not sure why they put ICQY on there but listen to it - it's quit good.
Had Bonham not died CODA would have never existed

During the show that's on the Led Zeppelin DVD. They added some stuff to it, but it's the same take.
Same with I Can't Quit You Baby by the way

5. Yes but technically it's not like the other albums |
|
It was an afterthought of putting something out quickly after the death of John Bonham. Page just grab a bunch of previously recorded stuff that wasn't worthy enough of those other albums and tossed it all into CODA

6. Yeah, Which Is Probably Why It's Their Worst! |
|
It was essentially cobbled together by record co.

And I didn't mind ITTOD so much. Maybe because I'm a keyboard player and Presence was bereft of any keyboards (or acoustic guitars).

10. I'm not a Zeppelin fan but... |
|
I listened to it when it came out and it wasn't too bad. I think for the fans of their stuff, it was a good thing to have out because it had some decent cuts.
