Healthcare - now here is an issue that a dedicated policy analyst can really sink there teeth into.
Its got fundamental debates about capitalism and socialism, market forces and public welfare. And then there are the inputs and outputs, demands and supports, all intermingled in feedback loops that would whirl a dervish. There?s pluralism everywhere you turn, and tons -literally tons- of cross-cutting cleavage.
Healthcare: now here's an issue that could really overwhelm a graduate student of public policy.
See paragraph #2.
My daughter says that we have a genetic predisposition toward choosing topics for projects that are really interesting and worthwhile - and overwhelming. I think she is right.
AAAUURGH#%***!!!

1. I just watched some of the clips for "Sicko" |
|
the new film by Michael Moore. It's beyond infuriating.
I don't know what 'cross-cutting cleavage' is, though. :hi:

"Cross-cutting cleavage" is a high falutin' political science term for views on issue that cut across groups or factional lines.

I have been treating these ear infections on the sly, by shooting my ears full of the medicine the vet gave me for my dog. It cured the first one, and then I got one on the other side, and coincidentally I took my dad's dog to the vet today and he needed ear medicine so I got a refill for my other dog ($30). I have doctor phobia, but not vet-phobia. It worked the last time.

my hope is to get my PhD in public policy with a specialization in healthcare policy. I must be genetically predetermined to flop around like a fish out of water on that one.

It's just considering that this is a summer term, not much time, and this is my first class in grad. school.
Well, as my philosophy professor once said, if you're going to drown, you might as well drown in deep water.
