It is almost midnight, Pacific time, Anyone out there awake....
And what the heck are you doing other than reading/posting here :)

I just moved here to Bakersfield, CA a few weeks back - and this seems to be the deadzone time on DU. All you slacking east coasters are off in bed dreaming of a whitehouse that does not have bush in it, while we west coast folks are drinking and partying.

Me - I am listening to the radio (coast to coast) and working on some projects (programming). Real exciting...but I got beer!

1. I'm here!
For the moment anyway. Trying to wind down after an evening of celebrity viewing. ;)

2. Close to 4:30 AM here.
I should go to bed soon, I guess.

I'm messing around in Photoshop and drinking Fresca (the soda of douchebags worldwide). Clearly I am a party animal.

3. I'm still awake!
But not for long....

I'm tired ....

And this posting is all I'm doing!

Well, I do have some classical music streaming.......

And it isn't always dead this time of night!

It just depends on who's still awake!

Nice to see you tonight!

9. I left a job as a data center manager to move here, but for good reason :)
My wife's parents and her sister live here, she grew up here - and after my mom died I had little left in Ohio (Looooong story about Ohio). My wife found out she has Parkinson's disease and has not been well this year so we came back to her home - where we could get some help when she needed.

But yeah - bakersfield is hell :)

On the upside, her parents own a cabin in the mountains, so we can get up there when we want to enjoy the cooler temps - and we hope to be there this weekend for a much needed break. It ain't much, but it is in the trees and cooler!

Still waiting on some rain. We used to enjoy the storms in Ohio. I don't think we will be seeing many of those here :)

17. Well, here is one about me and my best friend James
School was out due to heavy snow, and we got this grand idea to take some comic books to the monkey's retreat and sell em. Then use the money for some food and chess books.

So I took the cota bus to near his house, we carried large sacks of comics onto the bus. We got off the bus near OSU Campus and went into a Kroger and got some extra bags (ours were tearing) and we walked about 6 blocks to the Monkey's retreat.

It sucked :)

We got there, and they did not need any of those comics.

I turned to him and asked if he had called them earlier about any of them and he said no. DOH.

So we found another bus, went back to his house, and wrote some computer programs and laughed about it all.

That was about 26 years ago. We still laugh about it.

And how life has changed since then....But that is another story :)

12. a bat woke me up.
I was online checking to see if my kids and I need rabies shots now, and it appears we do. Current guidelines recommend shots to anyone sleeping in the same room as a bat. :(

We just moved into an old farmhouse and don't know all the nooks and crannies yet. And my darned husband is out of town... boo hoo. DOn't know if I'll be able to get back to sleep.

13. That sucks
I remember living in Mt Vernon Ohio and having a bat in the house.

A cop came out and he and I chased it around the house with a tennis racket. That was a night to remember :)

20. The part I still remember clear as day to this day:
The cop had the bat under the tennis racket, and he started to lift it up and the bat went flying at me. I slammed the hall door shut and caught the bat in it - but it squirmed out and flew right past me and down to the screen door (so I shut the main door and we got it out).

I yelled out in surprise as the bat came out and went right at me, and slammed that door so fast you would have thought I was the flash :) And there it was, caught in it and me feeling bad and it twisted once and was out and flying down the steps.

15. Hi TSS! I'm awake. Last time I was asleep before midnight Pacific time
was two years ago after I had surgery.

And yes, this is the beginning of the deadzone time on DU. But a few of us diehards are still around!

How is MrsTSS?

18. She is sleeping finally, daughter is at mom-in-law's house tonight
Wife has had a bad week, but I showed her the thread I made her (two nights ago) last night (ok, so I am slow sometimes) and she loved it and cried and we had a great night.

I am glad we are here as her family loves our daughter and helps out with her. With me working two jobs and taking care of some things at home it gets to be hard. The wife was able to lay around today and rest without having to worry too much.

She saw a good story tonight about advances in treating Parkinson's disease and it made her night.

It's like a sine wave, up and down. I'll take both as long as they are together with her :)

27. I'm glad she had a relatively good day.
I think about you and your family often. I know -- well, I imagine -- that your situation is very challenging for all three of you.

You are a good man, TSS, and I pray for all three of you that you will have the best life possible.

29. It means a lot to me when I see your posts
I know a lot of people here, but there are a few regulars I have come to look forward to hearing from - you are one of them.

Never met ya, have no idea what you look like, what you do, etc - but I feel I know you because we have shared so much over time.

Kind of weird - but that is what the internet brings out in us all, the ability to be friends through typing our thoughts to one another without ever seeing one another.

I have more friends online than offline (well, to be fair, several of my offline friends are now passed on). I guess here we can just be open and honest without fear (because, if worse comes to worse we can turn it off and ignore it and go to another site).

You get to know the soul of a person here on the net, long before you ever care about looks, age, etc. And that is liberating to me.

23. Glad to see you here!
I LOVE Az. I just drove through it on the 40 a month ago, and it still makes me all warm and fuzzy.

Seeing Flagstaff nearly made me cry, and I had to call my best friend in Columbus (James) and tell him I was there :)

What part are you in?

28. I'm not in AZ any longer (whoda thunk I'd get hooked on DU for all these years LOL)
I'm in SE New Mexico now, living on God's little acre

I was in PHX for 9 years. Flag is nice, I always liked stopping there on the many many trips up to the Grand Canyon. We moved last July out of the big city to outside this small town on the Pecos.

I love it :bounce: except my telecom engineer hubby is now driving truck and my graphic artist self is tend bar to make the bills, but we still are glad we made the move, and I'm so glad you did the same.
