David Lee Roth: Sex God
:eyes:

June 22, 2007 -- DAVID Lee Roth had such an unquenchable thirst for sex during his Van Halen days that he invented an ingenious way to score at the band's concerts - doling out generous cash rewards to staffers who supplied him with the hottest girls, according to a new, unauthorized bio of the platinum-selling band.

The spandex-clad rocker developed a "streamlined" system of "ordering sex at shows" by distributing laminated backstage passes to the security staff - each marked with initials," writes Ian Christe in "Everybody Wants Some: The Van Halen Saga," out in August from Wiley.

"Then, from the stage, out, 'Blonde, pink top, sector A-4,' pointing out the girls he wanted to see after the show. Whatever crew member's name Dave saw flapping around the girl's neck backstage at the end of the night would get a $100 bonus at breakfast the next morning. As far as intimacy went, it was a little like the invention of the drive-through window at McDonald's, but the morale of tour staff remained high."

Diamond Dave also kept a scrapbook of provocative Polaroids that showed many of the band's kinky groupies. " featured sights like a backward-leaning naked girl being used as a coffee table, a lit cigarette in her ," Christe writes.

But time caught up with Roth, and after a number of breakups and reunions with Van Halen, whose smash hits in the 1970s and '80s included "Jump," "Panama" and "Hot for Teacher," he appeared "frustrated by the role of sex god," according to the book.

1. He used to have his wanger insured for $1m by Lloyd's of London...
...in case he accidentally fathered any children.

It just goes to prove that even no-talent assclowns can get some, too

5. No-talent assclown?
Roth was the heart and soul of Van Halen, and a great showman to boot - don't get me started on Van Hagar's crap.

"I Can't Drive 55"? Please. :eyes:

6. Who said I liked Van Hagar?
Both were equally worthless. Van Halen is one of the most overrated, overhyped bands in music.

That is, if you would call Van Halen music in the first place

19. Okay, let's see you play like Eddie Van Halen.
They had way more talent than most of the crap that's spewed out these days.

20. Um, no thanks
I prefer guitar players who don't sound like strangled cats when they play.

10. You must be wayyyyy younger than me....
all the girls liked Roger Daltrey when i was 14.

I went to see "The Who" a few years back.

The next day, I was in a pub and i told the girl behind the bar that I just got back from seeing The Who.

She asked...Who are they?

It was then I realized how old I was. :P

8. Well, he certainly wasn't a talk radio god...
and it's a shame. He could have focused the show on rock music, interviewing musicians, etc., but it started out as free-form crap, and went downhill from there.

Too bad no national syndicate will ever give Henry Rollins a radio show.

As for the giggalo thing and being a no talent asshat, it's a hell of a lot more entertaining than the tortured crusader thing Bono's got going on.

16. he got better ratings than Opie and Anthony
and I don't think Henry Rollins would do a 5-day-a-week morning radio show.

17. For a guy who can't sing he did well for himself.
Roth was a tremendous frontman though. "1984" was the end for that band.

18. This practice is pretty common
I know of several bands that have specific roadies, that, in addition to their regular job on tour will also "scout the crowd" for the band. I don't know about "pay for play" in these instances, I just know that's what happened.

25. He can't beat Rick Derringer who stole the 16 y/o daughter of a Canadian Infantry Colonel.

Man was he surprised when dad showed up at his
hotel room.

"I'm here for my daughter" he told the nonplussed
and diminutive Derringer.
