The TSA searched my checked bag! |
|
I am unsure sure about how to feel about this, but mostly I'm quietly fuming. I know why they searched my bag; I was flying into BWI and in my bag was a metal hammer that comes apart and has 5 screwdrivers nested in it. (It was a christmas gift.) But still!! They even open my ice cream bucket that has all my toiletries, there was nothing in there but a razor. This was my checked bag, NOT my carry on. They even left me a note! "Smart Security Saves Time" is on the bottom. Humph!x(

...and put a really annoying "security" sticker on the latch, which jammed it up so the bag wouldn't open. I had to claw the sticker off with my fingernails to get the bag open, and there are still bits of sticky sticker on the case.

2. My checked bag was searched over Christmas... |
|
and TSA left a plastic tie on the zipper.
There wasn't much in the bag, Christmas presents and clothing.

3. I've had to fly a dozen times over the past two months |
|
And the TSA had searched every bag I have checked. Even car seats in carrier bags. I guess I'm used to it.

6. They searched mine last Christmas |
|
The only thing I can figure is that I had a homemade fruitcake packed for safe shipping in the tube cake pan it was baked in. Must have looked odd on x-ray. Of course my brothers said that it was the very least I should have expected for trying to transport a hazardous substance like fruitcake.

at customs at Logan Airport. I was kind of taken aback. Like I was going to say "YES right here! I thought it must have been my visible body piercings that made them ask but I bet I am on that DU fly list. LOL

why mess with the poor guy trying to make a living?
My bags get searched every time I fly as well, but then I only fly out of National, and usually at late notice (and I often pay in cash) so there you go. cost of doing business.

Flying home from AZ...I didn't have a chance to do all my laundry before returning, so they got to rummage through my dirty socks and 'unmentionables'. I can't possibly imagine what would've piqued their interest in my bag, but having to pilfer through my unwashed drawers serves them right. :P

13. London/Heathrow took my wallet chain away from me. |
|
That chain I wear that hooks my wallet to my front belt loop. Before the plane landed at Logan in Boston one of the flight attendants gave it back to me. Apparently security at Heathrow asked the pilot if he would hold it until I arrived at my destination. The flight attendant told me she couldn't understand why they took it from me.

16. Believe it or not, TSA seems to search every checked bag. |
|
...Every time. The note and plastic latch tag are part of the deal.
From what I understand, all checked luggage gets a scan, gets opened and hand-searched, and gets an explosive residue swab.
I watched them flip through books to see what falls out, etc.

17. Never happened to me before |
|
I've flown into BWI twice, and Milwakee and Mineapolis St. Paul once each. This was the first time I've ever had this happen. Thats why I'm posting. The bag got swabed the first time I flew out of BWI. I'm still... annoyed and uneasy, those are the best words. I mean its my stuff!

I sat and watched for a long time the other day, they took every checked bag and went through it before sending it down the chute.

19. We have had ours searched as well.. |
|
When we went to our son's wedding in Salt Lake, they opened our checked luggage.. Our son gave his groomsmen each a humdor with some expensive cigars, and our middle son, wrote a note and stuck it in the humidor.. It said..."I know exactly how many cigars are in this, and they better all be there when I get my bag after the trip "...

20. I had a bunch of things stolen out of a bag last August. |
|
too freaking bad for me.. NO ONE will take repsonsibility for the missing items and I was told to contact my insurance carrier. Of course most items were gifts from my trip and I had no real proof of anything since it was all packed away.
If they've got to go through them.. they at least need to figure out a way to keep the sticky fingers out of there... The BASTARDS!

22. My friend DID have sex toys in her bag! |
|
I don't know why she didn't take the batteries out, but she didn't, and the toy started going when the guy was searching her bag. So of course, the guy had to see what the heck was buzzing around in the bag. I guess he was a young guy, and when he found it, he was embarrassed and quickly put it back in, closed the bag, and let her pass.
Oh, my mistake. I forgot: she packed the sex toys into her S.O.'s bag, so HE was the one caught with the toys, not her. Boy, was he surprised!

23. You're not the only one |
|
Actually I believe that at most airports they check everyone's bags. There is a special area where you have to leave your bags. (at least this has been my experience). I don't know how thouroughly they go through them. I had a GameCube in a box that they apparently did not open at all. They left a card on top and closed the suitcases with a blue tag.
