I received a baby shower invitation, and I don't have any idea who these people are. I've never heard of the expectant parents names or the names of the people who are throwing the shower. I don't want to call the phone number on the invitation because then I would be obligated to go.

Has this ever happened to anyone else?

1. Why do you think you are obligated to go if you call the number?
That's bizarre.

Call 'em and let them know that you must unfortunately decline the invitation.

How odd to get an invitation from someone you don't know. Maybe they have a friend with the same name but didn't have the address, so looked it up online and got yours?

Or maybe it's someone you knew twenty years ago who's so desperate for gifts, they're sending invites to everyone they've ever met.

Anyway, you're not obligated to go just for calling - the phone can also be used to say 'no'.
