1. OpenOffice.org
I think the URL is http://www.openoffice.org

They offer a free program that's very similar to Microsoft Word, with versions for both Windows and Linux. Why give more money to that asshole Bill Gates when you can use the competition free of charge?

There is a paid version called StarOffice, or something like that. I'm not sure what the difference is, but it probably includes technical support, if you need that.

6. What do you expect from a Mormon program?

(True, actually. Before WordPerfect was acquired by Corel, it was the product of a Orem, Utah development house named SSI -- later known as WordPerfect Corporation. From an article I read on them, it appears that practically all the staff and management were Mormon...which means the odds are they were mostly Republican. Still wonder why it sucked?)

;-)

5. What kind of weirdo are you?!
I'll trade you Word for WordPerfect any day! WordPerfect is the perfectionist's text editor -- it doesn't suffer from that annoying Microsoft "Oh! You said 'Do X', so you must mean 'Do Y'!" complex, and I love those drag-and-drop margins. The only tool I've ever worked with that's better (for some things, anyway) is a real high-end tech writer program called FrameMaker.

Download OpenOffice -- it's interoperable with Word most of the way, and it's similar enough to Word to annoy me somewhat, so you'll probably like it.

Wordperfect lets you be in control of what you what do to. Word has too many hidden templates/commands. I have found Word to be infuriatingly frustrating. It simply does not do what you tell it to do!

11. Besides if one is an MS word fan one can actually make WP
use the exact same keystrokes for commands...when editing a large Doc, the mouse slows you down.

10. WordPerfect is far superior to Word.
I had WordPerfect on my old PC at the office. Then they gave us Macs with Word. I hate Word.

12. I like WP
Only problem is, I keep getting Invalid Page Fault errors with it. I've even tried reinstalling it from the disk. I've downloaded a Microsoft "fix" and still it doesn't work.

Plus, it won't open word documents. I don't know what's wrong.

I may try that OpenOffice deal.
