Does anyone else think that SCTV was the funniest show ever? I remember staying up late on Friday nights in 1981? 1982? watching it, the full 90 minute version. I love that show, and the CCCP1 episode has to be the best! With the DVDs out now, it's really really special to an old guy like me :)

2. At first it seemed like a weak imitation... |

...of Saturday Night Live or Fridays, but once I got into it, it was cool. Probably stands up better to repeated viewings. Lotta great talent there.
For twelve years now, I've been naming web sites after it.

4. There has to be a buy in to the premise, its a network, not just a show. |

And with Guy Caballero as the owner, cheap will rule. I love his using a wheelchair, "Just for the effect." And Lola "I want to have your children" Heatherton.

...several SCTV veterans (notably Dan Aykroyd (I heart Kingston, Ontario, eh?)) made up the original Not Ready For Prime Time Players. Want to see John Candy before he became a big gigantic (excuse the pun) star? He was also a regular on that show.

5. Any show with "Dr. Tongue's 3-D House of Pancakes" |
|
is indeed the best ever.
Although "The State" would have to be a close second.

8. That one was my favorite |

and unfortunately, when we moved from the US to the UK, that's the only thing missing, the one disk from the second set of episodes. Makes me sad. Thank God for YouTube!

9. That show was awesome ... |

I remember being a fat little stoner and watching it in the early 80s.
I always remember the episode where they go on strike, and they show a scene where Edith Prickley dancing with Pierre Pierre Trudeau at Studio 54. She strikes a deal with him to beam in Canadian programming so the network won't go black.
At the time, that scene went right over my head. Now, I laugh whenever I think of that.

Battle of the PBS Network Stars? Or Mrs. Falbo doing her childrens show from a prison? SCTV was the best.
