Call me stupid, but I buy the carpenter pencils at Home Depot. I like them. They are nice and chunky, and the tips don't break easily. So what's the problem? They are BROWN. Why is that a problem?
You are working on a project, outside. You are surrounded by a sea of drills, hammers, saws, sawdust, empty water bottles, a full pack of cigarettes that you ruined by leaving out overnight in the rain because you were too goddamn tired to clean-up when you finished working yesterday, empty "little debbie" lemon pie wrappers that you bought yesterday even though they were two weeks out of date because you had a craving....anyway...
you make the horrible mistake of setting your BROWN pencil down when you are working. Bye bye pencil. You will never find it again because it is BROWN....it blends in with everything, like a preying mantis. Even when you clean-up, you won't find it. Trust me. It's like the brown pencil gods make it vanish as soon as you set it down. Why the hell don't they make them lime green or something?
Thats all. Carry on. Hugs and kisses. philboy

I do a lot of home improvement stuff and I know how annoying it is when every 10 seconds you have to look for something or you don't have the right one or whatever...

8. if it was anywhere near the ground.. |

of near some weeds or brush, then it was absorbed into Nature. That's what's most special about the working pencils, no kidding, so you can feel okay about it!

9. I have garden pruners that have dark green handles. |
|
Same problem. I always lose them in the bushes. Grr!
You could put a dab of red nailpolish on the pencils... that might help.

12. I wish they would come back out with |

grease pencils. The ones were you unwrapped the cover instead of using a sharpener or knife. They were so much better than the stuff out there now. You are absolutely right about those pencils.Pains in the butt. Sharpies aren't much better. The tips dry out to fast if you use them on concrete or plaster. You can't use them on surfaces that will be exposed and painted because it will eventualy bleed through. You can't use them to write anything small cause the ink smeers together AND bleeds through paper. If you have to mark for cuts with less than an eighth of an inch tolerance they are worthless because the mark is always bigger than that.Plus the cap makes using it a two hand operation which can be a pain in the ass when you are on a lift 40 feet in the air trying to hold an eighty pound light fixture in place so you can mark the bolt holes.
Sharpies suck!

13. Try an art supply store. |

If they don't have grease pencils, they'll have litho pencils that unwrap the same way.

17. Because if they made them lime green, they wouldn't sell nearly as many. |
|
Losing the pencils is a GOOD thing.... for the folks SELLING the pencils.
