Please, some Lounge vibes....not for me...For my husband...
Tomorrow he will have surgery on his right shoulder...

There's a bony spur growing into his rotator cuff, and the spur must come out before it rips the rotator cuff...

It's outpatient surgery, but still...

Your good vibes would be most appreciated........

Thanks.....

I've been through that surgery. When I awoke from the anaesthetic, the nurse asked me what I wanted. I asked for a cup of coffee. When the nurse handed me a cup of coffee, I promptly spilled the whole thing on my lap. You think they would know better.

37. I know what he's going through
I have what my sister (a nurse) believes to be a bone spur trying to come out of the tip of one of my toes. Believe me when I say that taking a step forward is one hell of a challenge lately- I have an appointment with the ortho doctors at the end of July to examine it.

So I can very much relate. Hope all goes well with him.

waiting, testing, another injection, testing, etc.

I didn't have the heart to ask my daughter or husband to drive me and then wait around all those hours. It's in another part of town. I'll get there before the traffic builds up, and home maybe 1 or 2PM. Should be OK.

I'm not having any anesthesia (maybe a little tranquilizer by mouth), so I'll just do it myself.

Anyway, good night, sweetie.

Your Achilles tendons lengthened?

That sounds rather extreme!

He has good veins, so I expect the IV's to be no big deal....

I think he will do well......

Thanks for coming by tonight, sweetie....:pals:

85. Okay, as long as you get to be his nurse when he gets home.
And I hope you have talked him out of trying out for the LA Dodgers for at least another season. I mean, at this point, waiting for another season can't hurt his chances anyway.

By the way, are you a Dodgers fan?

Yeah, we have decided to wait another season!

And yes, I am a Dodger's fan....but I don't follow them faithfully....

96. Of course you've got them from me!
The rotator cuff is nothing to mess with - your shoulder comes into play anytime you move your arm away from your body, so I'm glad he's getting it taken care of. I've had some problems with mine as a result of weightlifting, and have had to be careful ever since. I'm sure he'll have some rehab exercises to do once he's recovered, and it's important that he takes them seriously...stay on his butt about that!

100. I've had two shoulder surgeries
On each shoulder. See if they can give you a cyrocuff - it's this great thing for icing the shoulder that helps keep swelling down. The cuff goes around the shoulder and it attaches to a bucket that fills with ice water. Very comfy and works great.

Good luck to your husband!

106. ***Surgical Update***
We are home!

He did very well.....the rotator cuff was not torn at all!

The doctor cleaned out the bony spurs and said that my husband will have the shoulder of a 20 year old when he recovers!

They did a nerve block to stop any pain...

And so far, he has been comfortable, if a little numb...

Thank you, all of you, for your love and support!

120. I am happy he came through the surgery okay, Peggy.
Rotator cuff injuries are bad. I had a similar situation about three years ago. It hurt like hell, but I went through physical therapy vs. surgery -- I went to an orthopedic surgeon who preferred now to operate. It's not quite fine now (still have an occasional twinge of pain or numbness in that arm) but it is much, much better.

Been there, done that...rotator cuff repair, that is.

Just don't let him overuse that arm while he's healing...slow, steady, and do the physical therapy.
