Man dies when hit by train in game of 'chicken' (wait for it)
A 23-year-old Valparaiso man was struck by a train and died early Saturday morning in what appears to have been a game of chicken.

Porter County Coroner Victoria Deppe identified the man as Patrick Stiff II.

1. Wait...in the game of chicken, isn't the last one to turn away the loser?
And doesn't the fact that trains run on fucking tracks make it a bad candidate for a game of chicken?

6. Brother - in - law works for railroad. Hates it when this shit happens.
The train does not race down the street, around corners, tracking you down. But it ALWAYS wins if you get in the way.

And some poor chaps on the train have to live with a nasty memory. Not amusing for them at all.

10. I was riding in a locomotive when a car dashed across to beat the train
disappeared from sight below the nose of the cab - we didn't feel anything, someone ran to the side window, looked out, said he made it.

still shook me up.

the crew said that happened every couple of nights. they'd only actually hit a few, killed one guy

22. Pancreatic cancer
is what I heard.

At this point the causes of pancreatic cancer are uncertain. But Pancreatic cancer is certianly one of the deadliest cancers out there. Most people who have it die within a year of diagnosis.

23. Cigarette smoking is the most significant risk factor in pancreatic cancer.
Cigarette smoking is considered to be the most significant and avoidable risk factor for pancreatic cancer. (from wikipedia)

Smoking has been identified as the single most important risk factor in familial pancreatic cancer. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2004/11/041108011932.htm

Smokers develop pancreatic cancer more than twice as often as nonsmokers. http://www.oncologychannel.com/pancreaticcancer/

Cigarette smoking is a strong and consistent predictor of pancreatic cancer although the risk diminishes to that of a non-smoker ten years, on average, after cessation. Risk of the disease is related to consumption and duration of smoking. Smokers have about twice as high a risk for this cancer as non-smokers.

18. I was in a train that hit a guy once
lucky for him it was going slow and just knocked him completely goofy. He lived anyway. We had to stop for an hour or so while paramedics came and got the guy and the police took reports etc.
