My husband just rescued a stray kitten from drowning.
:) He just called me and told me. We knew there were two kittens, one gray and one black, that were on the property behind our house. We had no idea how old they were or anything, just that they were driving our dogs batshit crazy, walking up and down the fence line and taunting them. :P Well, the dogs were going ape this morning down in the lower part of our yard, and he went out of the gate to investigate. He heard one yowling at the top of its lungs, and he tracked it down. There was a garbage can on the other property, and it was full of water. The black kitten was standing on a ridge in the can on its tiptoes, up to its neck in water. The can had apparently gotten full of rainwater a day or so ago when we had a thunderstorm, and the kitten had gotten into the can and couldn't get back out. It was yowling for help, and the other kitten was trying to get up to it. Hubby tipped the can over carefully, and out came the water and the kitty. Both kittens scampered off.

I'm proud of the dogs for alerting my husband, and I'm proud of him for saving the life of a creature that would certainly not have made it through the day otherwise. :)

7. Oh those noble dogs...
I'm sure their barks meant

"There's a kitty in trouble!"

and NOT

"A CAT DARED SET FOOT OUR YARD!!"

:P
