What should I get my wife as a gift...
for our son's imminent birth?

She likes jewelry but I always feel like jewelry is a cop out gift.

1. it's not a cop out if that's what she likes!
every man I have dated has had fatal allergies to jewelry stores.

(that's the only explanation I can come up with)

18. We are thinking of the horrible human rights abuses that go into creating jewelry.
And worse, that go into forcing us into jewelry stores to spend ungodly amounts of cash on something that, face it, we think of as ugly and distracting. :)

3. Seems to me that getting her a beautiful piece of jewelry
in honor of your son's birth....

Would be the smartest thing you could do!

She will never forget it....

BTW...early congrats! I hope all goes well...

6. My husband got me a ring with the birthstone of each of my
kids when I had them.

I have subsequently put them on my charm bracelet. A very nice gesture, IMHO.

11. Are you folks religious?
Reason I ask is that I know a woman in MA who makes rosary beads/chaplets from roses, so if you were to get your wife a bouquet at the birth, she would take a couple of the roses and fashion rosary beads from them.

They are beautiful. I had some made when my mom passed away and had some made for my daughters and my son as well.

PM me if you want the information, I'll send you the website.

15. Go with what she likes
It's not a cop-out especially if she likes jewelry. I think your wife would treasure that particular piece of jewelry and it would be a very meaning gift to pass on to the child in who's honor it was purchased many years down the line. Every time she looks at it, she'll think of you and that baby and it will make her heart smile. JMO

19. Get her a set of golf clubs in your size, and a box of cigars.
I mean, geez - she wouldn't be pregnant if you hadn't already given her a gift. What more does she need?

...but then, I am not too big into jewelry. Maybe you could give her both?
